Located in the mountains of Africa, the silverback gorilla is an imposing presence that can grow up to six feet tall. Subsisting on an herbivorous diet, the silverback will consume everything from roots and herbs to bark and bamboo. While they may be intimidating, the silverback gorilla has a reputation for being rather gentle and reserved. That is, unless they are threatened, in which case the alpha male will stand up straight and pound its chest to ward off enemies.

Each 2022 1 oz Congo Silverback Gorilla Coin in this online JM Bullion listing was struck at Scottsdale Mint and will arrive to you in new condition. Produced in collaboration with the Republic of Congo, these coins are considered legal tender. They will arrive to you either in individual plastic flips, a tube of 20, or a Scottsdale Monster Box of 500 coins.

ants supporting a decorative shield. Upon the shield, there is a lion holding a torch, and above it, there is a large crown. Across the coin’s border, there are inscriptions that read Republique du Congo, 500 Francs CFA.

The reverse side of 2022 1 oz Silver Silverback Gorilla Coins there is a depiction of a silverback gorilla. In this all-new design, the gorilla appears in a forward-facing position from the waist up as it pounds its chest. The Democratic Republic of the Congo normally uses banknotes for circulation, and does not issue coins in the Congolese Franc currency. However, the country has authorised some foreign mints to issue commemorative and bullion coins under its jurisdiction.

This fourth issue in the annual World’s Wildlife Series is dedicated to the Bear (Ursidae).

The bear is one of the most famous animal species in the world and plays an important role in the mythology and culture of many nations because of its size and strength. The species belongs to the family of mammals and is divided into eight different subspecies. The most well-known subspecies include the polar bear from the Arctic and Northern Canada, the brown bear from North America, Europe and Russia, the giant panda from China, and the American black bear from North America and Mexico. While the animals’ habitat once stretched across the globe, their territory has now been greatly reduced. Ongoing deforestation, illegal poaching, and climate change have led to the classification of some subspecies as endangered.

The reverse design depicts a brown bear in the wild. The majestic animal’s open muzzle reveals its razor-sharp teeth. Around above, the name of the coin: THE BEAR; around below, the name of the series WORLD’S WILDLIFE, divided by a map of the world centred on the continent of Asia.

The leopard coin is the second animal featured in the African Wildlife series and just like its counterpart, the elephant, it has gained popularity every year with investors and collectors alike. The first year of issue for the leopard was 2018 and the design of the reverse changes every year on this bullion coin. The design always includes the leopard, but it is depicted in a variety of scenes and also can include multiple leopards in the design. The design changes make year of issue unique. The obverse depicts the coat of arms for Somalia.

Each year, the coins of the Rwandan Wildlife African Ounce Series offer a new reverse design element. Each one of these new reverse elements comes with a shared design element, that being the outline of the African continent, and a new element representing a different animal species found on the continent.

Today, there are eight living species of pelicans. Most of the worlds pelicans live between the temperate and tropical latitudes of planet Earth. There is a wide, but patchy distribution of pelicans around the world, with the most common areas of nonexistence being inland South America and the Arctic region.

Obverse

In the obverse design of 2022 Rwandan Pelican Silver Coins, the mint features the image of the national coat of arms. The Rwandan coat of arms comes with a traditional indigenous basket at the center set against a cogwheel in the background. The basket is flanked by branches of coffee and sorghum, with warriors shields flanking the entire seal and the sun rising above. Inscriptions include BANKI NKURU YU RWANDA, AMAFARANGA, 50, and MIRONGO ITANU.

Reverse

For the reverse field of 2022 Pelican 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find a common design element with the African continent dominating much of the design field. The Series includes a total of five coins, all dedicated to South Africa’s impressive wildlife. The animals known as the “Big Five” – Elephant – Lion – Buffalo – Rhino – Leopard – are considered emblems and ambassadors of this culturally rich country and represent the African fauna. The first issue is dedicated to the Elephant. The motive of the silver coin shows a detailed close-up of the head of an adult elephant. The inscriptions “SOUTH AFRICA”, “BIG FIVE 2021” and the South African coat of arms are also part of the design.

The reverse shows two halves of an lions head. Placing two of these coins next to each other gives a full close-up portrait of an lion. When several of these coins are placed next to each other, an entire herd of lions appears. In the center, the denomination “FIVE RAND”, the weight “1OZ” and the fineness “Ag 999” are shown. The African lion (Panthera leo) is the largest and most important land predator in Africa. Due to his enormous strength and graceful appearance, the lion is generally considered the “king of animals” – a term that originates from old fairy tales and fables. Since then, the feline predator has been a symbol of power and dominance and has adorned countless coats of arms and flags up to this very day. The impressive roar of the lion can be heard up to 8 kilometers away and is used for communication within the pack members. In the wild, the lion can live up to 20 years – but to this day, the threat from poachers remains great. The Big Five II Lion silver coin in uncirculated quality is limited to only 15,000 pieces worldwide and will be delivered in an illustrated blistercard.

The 2022 Krugerrand continues this legendary tradition in a new metal. Much like its gold sibling, the Silver Krugerrand offers investors a great way to own low-premium bullion. This is the Sixth coin of the new African Lunar series series released by the BH Mayer’s Mint, packaged in individual plastic wrapping.

Rwandas national coat of arms is found on the reverse side of the 2022 Rwandan Lunar Tiger 1oz Silver Coins. The national seal is found in the center of the design element with a knotted rope around the emblem. The inscriptions on this face of the silver coin include Banki Nkuru Yu Rwanda, Amafaranga Mirongo Itanu, Republika Yu Rwanda, and Ubumwe-Umurimo-Gukunda Igihugu.

The Lunar Tiger design is found on the obverse field of 2022 Rwandan Lunar Tiger Silver Coins. This image borrows some of the design features used since the program started, with the most visible being the stained glass effect of the designs. These alternating polished and mirrored tiles deliver visual contrast to the Tiger and its immediate background. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include Lunar Ounce, 2022, 1 oz Fine Silver 999, and the Chinese symbol for the Tiger around the field. The fourth and final issue of the “Apex Predators” series is titled Crocodile & Shark and features the two apex predators of the sea – the great white shark and the saltwater crocodile.

Both predators display their razor-sharp, bared teeth. They are surrounded by fish and coral reefs.

On the reverse is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The denomination, weight and fineness of the coin are also included in the design.

The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is probably the most famous and also the most feared sea creature in the world. The apex predator prefers mainly temperate coastal waters and has a jaw with up to 300 teeth in several rows. Just as deadly as it is well known is the fearsome saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). It is the largest reptile on earth and can live up to 70 years. Not only does it look dangerous, about half of the crocodile attacks on humans are due to the saltwater crocodile. It prefers the tropical regions of Australia, Asia and the Pacific, but it has also been spotted far from land at sea.

The eighth issue of the Series Prehistoric Life from the Congo is dedicated to the Liopleurodon. The motive of the premium bullion coin, struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver, features a Liopleurodon underwater while hunting for prey. Above the sea-dwelling sauropterygian are the inscriptions “PREHISTORIC LIFE”, “LIOPLEURODON”, “166 – 163.5 MIO YEARS BC” and the year of issue 2022.

The Liopleurodon belongs to the genus of pliosaurs from the Middle to Upper Jurassic period and lived in Europe and South America. It could reach an average length of 12 meters and is thus considered the largest scientifically described pliosaur. According to researchers, their powerful jaws and strong teeth indicate that they fed less on fish and more on larger prey such as other marine reptiles. As a result, they were probably among the apex predators of their time. The first evidence of the species was discovered in 1873 by Henri-Émile Sauvage from a single tooth near Boulogne-sur-Mer in northern France.

The third issue of the new “Apex Predators” series is titled Tiger & Komodo and features a powerful Tiger entangled in a fight with a Komodo Dragon.

Both predators show their bared teeth and sharp claws. They are surrounded by a bamboo forest.

The komodo is the largest carnivorous lizard in the world and is known for its huge jaw with shark-like teeth. However, it is not only its jaws but also its deadly saliva that make it an apex predator. Just as deadly as it is beautiful, is the largest and ferocious predatory cat in the world – the tiger. He can jump almost 5 meters high and reach a speed of over 60 km per hour. The tiger’s powerful teeth and sharp claws are not to be underestimated either. Few animals can match the strength of the tiger.

The seventh issue of the Series Prehistoric Life from the Congo is dedicated to the Gigantopithecus. The motive of the premium bullion coin, struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver, features a Gigantopithecus in a jungle landscape interspersed with waterfalls. Above the giant primate are the inscriptions “PREHISTORIC LIFE”, “GIGANTOPITHECUS”, “8 – 0.3 MIO YEARS BC” and the year of issue 2022.

The reverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Gigantopithecus belongs to the genus of primates from the family of apes (Hominidae) and lived until 300,000 years ago in the south of China, in northern India and in Pakistan. The largest ape that ever lived reached a height of up to 3 meters and a weight of about half a ton. The closest relative alive today, according to research, is the orangutan, which shares a common ancestor with Gigantopithecus, which probably lived 12 to 10 million years ago.

The second issue of the new “Apex Predators” series is titled Cougar & Bear and features a powerful bear entangled in a fight with a cougar.

The cougar stands on the branch of a tree, while the bear seems to attack from the ground. They are surrounded by leaves and branches of the tree, showing their sharp claws and bared teeth. On the reverse is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The denomination, weight, fineness and year of issue are also included in the design. Grizzly bears and cougars are known to be solitary animals and have very similar diets. They often have to share a habitat on the North American continent, which leads to competition for food, resources and territory. The mintage of the Premium bullion coin struck from 1 ounce of 99.9% silver is limited to 10,000 pieces worldwide.

2022 Roaring Lion Niue 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

The Truth Series was launched in 2018 initially as a one-ounce silver coin. Over the next five years, the series has expanded in popularity and demand and now includes silver, gold and platinum coins as well as multiple sizes and finishes. The series includes two coins: the Roaring Lion and the Tree of Life. Each coin is annually produced in all three precious metals and released at different times in the year.

Something that may be unknown about this coin is the hidden “truth” included on every coin. This notable feature adds great value to the series for many customers. Each year, the “truth” changes. The Roaring Lion is released earlier in the year and features the first half of the Truth with the Tree of Life featuring the second half of the Truth. This year, the 2022 1 oz Roaring Lion Silver Coin features a micro-engraved truth of: “All your words are true.” This truth can be found in Psalm 119:160

Struck at the prestigious Sunshine Mint, each coin contains one troy ounce of .9999 pure silver. Each coin also has a face value of two dollars, backed by the New Zealand government. The face value, year of issue and Queen Elizabeth’s effigy can all be found on the obverse face of the coin.

The reverse features the Truth on the band of the crown, with the Lion of Judah symbol above. The Lion is portrayed in great detail. The specifications of the coin, including “ONE TROY OUNCE” and the extraordinary purity of “.9999 FINE SILVER,” are at the bottom of the obverse.

2022 American Eagle Type 2 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

The redesign of the American Silver Eagle coin took several months across 2020 for the US Mint to narrow down. The original list of possible designs considered by coinage groups and the US Mint included some 35 different designs. In the end, a new depiction of the American bald eagle in its natural element was chosen to replace John Mercantis heraldic eagle. Emily Damstra is the designer of the new reverse image for the collection. The enhanced image of Walking Liberty on the obverse includes the reintroduction of Adolph A. Weinman’s artistic signature mark on the field, bringing the modern design closer to the original 1916 image.

The obverse side of the 2022 American Silver Eagle Type 2 Coin features the Walking Liberty design from Adolph A. Weinman. This design was first developed in 1916 and originally used on the US Mints half dollar. The image shows Liberty in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon. Beneath the “TR” in the inscription of “In God We Trust” is where you will find Weinman’s signature mark consisting of his “AW” initials.

On the reverse field of 2022 1 oz Silver Eagle Type 2 Coins is a new depiction of the American bald eagle. Now featured in a more life-like design, the American bald eagle swoops down into view with its wings flexed behind its back and a large oak branch in its talons. Emily Damstra chose to include an oak branch with the eagle as the oak is the national tree of the United States and is a well-known symbol of strength.

2022 Lion & Hyena Apex Predators 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

The first issue of the new “Apex Predators” series is titled Lion & Hyena and features a powerful lion in conflict with three hyenas. The four animals are standing on a rocky ground. The lion has one paw raised with claws extended – ready to defend itself against the belligerent hyenas.

On the reverse is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The denomination, weight and fineness of the coin are also included in the design. Hyenas live in packs, the so-called clans. The individual clan members help each other and often attack their prey together. It happens that lions want to dispute the hyenas their prey – although the hyenas are basically hardly afraid of the big cats and fight back, they have no chance against a full-grown lion. The mintage of the bullion coin struck from 1 ounce of 99.9% silver is limited to 10,000 pieces worldwide.

2022 Panthera Tigris Laos 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

Laos (officially the Lao People’s Democratic Republic) has been using the Lao Kip as its currency since 1955. In normal everyday circulation, it is normally served by banknotes and not coins, The country has however authorised some foreign mints to issue bullion coins under its jurisdiction. These are in standard bullion sizes, such as one ounce of silver – designated as 1 oz Ag, where Ag is abbreviated from Argentum, the Latin word for silver, This coin is the third release in the Tiger (Panthera Tigris) series of premium bullion coins, and is dedicated to the Indochinese tiger.

The Indochinese tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti) is a tiger subspecies found in Myanmar, Thailand, Lao PDR, Vietnam, Cambodia and southwestern China. They prefer mostly forested habitats such as tropical rainforests, evergreen forests, deciduous forests, and tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests.

The obverse: of the coin depicts the Pha That Luang (Lao: ທາດຫຼວງ or ພຣະທາດຫລວງ) – a gold-covered large Buddhist stupa in the centre of the capital city of Laos, Vientiane. The third and final issue of the Series Pirate Queens is dedicated to the legendary British pirate Mary Read. The motive of the Premium Bullion Coin from the Royal Australian Mint features the pirate ship of Mary Read with hoisted flag. It is moving away from another ship, shown in the background, which was heavily damaged by cannon shots. Below the ship is the typical pirate emblem – a skull with two crossed infantry swords. The inscription “MARY READ”, the weight and the fineness complete the design. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the denomination and the year of issue.

Mary Read was born in London in 1685 or 1690 as an illegitimate child. Her widowed mother dressed Mary as a boy to replace her deceased firstborn and to hide the affair from which Mary was born from her in-laws. Since the benefits of living as a man did not escape Mary, she continued to dress up and call herself “Mark.” In this way, she first served in the military and then signed on with a merchant ship that was captured by pirates en route to the Caribbean, whom she voluntarily followed. In 1720 she met Anne Bonny and John Rackham. Numerous myths have grown up around the adventurous love story between the two women that resulted from this encounter. In 1720, the pirate crew was ambushed and overpowered. Rackham was executed, whereas Anne Bonny and Mary Read were initially imprisoned due to alleged pregnancies. Mary Read died there of a fever.

The long-running Australian Lunar Coin Series, first published in 1995 and now in its third cycle, honors the animals of the Chinese zodiac with a catalog of annual designs representing mouse, wolf, tiger, rabbit, lizard, snake, horse, donkey, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. These 2022 coins are honoring the Year of the Tiger, which is the third in the 12-year lunar cycle is said to apply to people born in 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, and 2022.

The Perth Mint has put a limit on the 1 oz coins and will only produce up to 300,000 one oz coins. One of the worlds most famous secret agents is the fictional character known as James Bond. Known within the circles of British intelligence as 007, Bond solves crimes around the world and helps avert disaster with his combat skills and charm. Introduced to readers in the 1950s by Ian Fleming, since 1962, Bond has graced the big screen in theaters around the globe.

Ian Fleming came up with the James Bond character in 1953. Over the course of the next decade of his life, until his death in 1964, Fleming would feature this impressive character in 12 novels and two short-story collections. Following his death, other authors have been authorized to produce additional Bond novels or stories. The most recent of these was written by Anthony Horowitz and published in 2018.

Once James Bond hit the big screen, audiences around the world began to associate the actors who portrayed Bond with the character. Sean Connery was the first James Bond and is, arguably, the greatest Bond. He portrayed Bond in the first five consecutive films from 1962 to 1967. After skipping the sixth Bond film, Connery returned in 1971 to portray the secret agent once again in the seventh film. Connery is tied with Roger Moore for the most times in the role at seven. In addition to appearing in the first five and six of the first seven, Connery is the only Bond from Eon Productions films to feature in a non-Eon Productions film, playing Bond a seventh time in Never Say Never Again in 1983. With that appearance, Connery took on the role seven times across three decades.

When Great Britain struck its first Gold Sovereign in 1817, King George III was still wearing a powdered wig. Fast forward 200 years and no one, but no one would be caught dead wearing the fluffy, long out-of-date hairpiece! Styles and trends have changed dramatically since then, but one thing has remained constant: Benedetto Pistrucci’s Saint George and the Dragon design that appeared on that first Gold Sovereign has been used by every subsequent British monarch to this day.

The first release in the Modern Masters Trilogy looks at the iconic Saint George and the Dragon design through the eyes of Jody Clark, one of the coin world’s brightest rising stars. At the youthful age of 33, Clark is already famous for creating the fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II during his time as an engraver at the Royal Mint. A renowned international artist, Clark was the winner of the 2014 flagship Britannia collection and the designer of the critically acclaimed Queen’s Beast collection. His rendition of Saint George and the Dragon shows the duel between man and beast. The dragon falls back, claws raised menacingly and teeth ready to strike. Saint George’s horse rears back, as the knight leans forward to plunge his spear into the dragons’ heart. A master of detail, Clark’s design is so detailed that you can see individual strands from the horse’s tail and each scale on the dragon’s hide can be easily identified. A stylized Celtic border surrounds the design.

The design is a splendidly fluid counterpart to Pistrucci’s original design. For a fee of 100 guineas Pistrucci created a coin regarded by some as the most beautiful ever produced with a timeless motif that evoked visions of ancient Greek warriors. It depicts Saint George wearing nothing but a helmet in a dynamic portrayal that shows the Saint astride his horse as it tramples the dragon beneath its hooves. Pistrucci worked from life, using a hotel waiter to pose as England’s patron saint for his iconic engraving. The prestigious commission left Pistrucci in prime position to assume the vacant post of Chief Engraver at the Royal Mint. But while he assumed the duties of Chief Engraver, his status as a foreigner left the Italian-born artist barred from the position. An ambitious but polarizing character, Pistrucci stoked rivalries, survived a stabbing by a jealous rival, and left an indelible mark on British coinage.

Saint Helena is a small island in the South Atlantic Ocean which is part of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. The currency of the island is the Saint Helena pound, fixed at parity with the pound sterling. The island has authorised some private mints to issue coins under its jurisdiction, which come in a variety of sizes – including in the popular silver ounce (1 oz silver) format, usually denominated as £1.

The Indian rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis), also called the Indian rhino, greater one-horned rhinoceros or great Indian rhinoceros, is a rhinoceros species native to the Indian subcontinent. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, as populations are fragmented and restricted to less than 20,000 km2. As of August 2018, the global population was estimated to comprise 3,588 individuals, including 2,939 individuals in India and 649 in Nepal. Kaziranga National Park alone had an estimated population of 2,048 rhinos in 2009. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam has the highest density of Indian rhinos in the world with 84 individuals in an area of 38.80 km2 in 2009.

Indian rhinos once ranged throughout the entire stretch of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, but excessive hunting and agricultural development reduced its range drastically to 11 sites in northern India and southern Nepal. In the early 1990s, between 1,870 and 1,895 Indian rhinos were estimated to have been alive. Since then, numbers have increased due to conservation measures taken by the government. Nearly 85% of the global Indian rhinoceros population is concentrated in Assam, where Kaziranga National Park contains 70% of rhino population.

In Germanic mythology, it was associated with Freyja, the goddess of love and fertility. New Series – Giants of the Ice Age

The Cave Lion (Panthera spelaea) evolved from P. fossilis about 460,000 years ago in central Europe during the late Saalian glaciation or early Eemian and would have been common throughout Eurasia from 450,000 to 13,000 years ago, when it went extinct.

Analysis of fossil bone samples revealed that it was highly distinct and genetically isolated from the modern lion (Panthera leo) occurring in Africa and Central Asia. Panthera spelaea is thought to have been one of the largest lion species. The skeleton of an adult male found in 1985 near Siegsdorf in Germany had a shoulder height of around 1.2 m and a head-body length of 2.1 m without the tail, similar in size to large modern lions, and larger examples have been found, with the heaviest estimated to weigh 339 kg.

The cave lion was probably predominantly found in open habitats such as steppe and grasslands, although it would also have occurred in open woodlands as well. It was one of the keystone species of the mammoth steppe, being one of the main apex predators alongside grey wolf, cave hyena and brown bear. Cave bear cubs, reindeer and other cervids were prominent in the diet of cave lions.

The Giants of the Ice Age series commemorates the eight extinct animals which ones roamed the earth during the last ice age, which took place during the Pleistocene Era.

Atop its tawny head rests the Crown of Saint Wenceslas, a crown that forms part of the Bohemian Crown Jewels. Bohemia is now part of the Czech Republic, and the Bohemian Crown Jewels are stored in an undisclosed location within Prague’s St. Vitus Cathedral. The vault is sealed with seven locks whose keys are held by seven different government and religious officials. The final design element is a sprig from a Linden Tree, the Czech Republic’s national tree.

The lion became part of Bohemian heraldry thank to the legendary story of Prince Bruncvik. According to the tale, Bruncvik was a mythical prince who traveled to Africa, where he helped a lion defeat a dragon. It’s one of the most famous stories of how the exotic lion became symbol of the Czech Republic. Her faithful companion, the double-headed eagle, warns of the danger lurking nearby. Reverse

The reverse of the 2022 coin is traditionally an image of the Germania Mint coat of arms with a two-headed eagle holding lightning bolts and surrounded by olive branches. The eagle originates from Germanic mythology and is associated with Janus – the god of all beginnings, protector of gates and bridges, patron of alliances. The eagle’s heads turned in opposite directions symbolise the past and the future.

Tokelau, known previously as the Tokelau Islands, is a dependent territory of New Zealand in the southern Pacific Ocean. It uses the New Zealand Dollar as circulation currency, but has been issuing a variety of non-circulating coins since 1978, and has also authorised some foreign mints to issue bullion coins under its jurisdiction.

The obverse design of the coin features the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the “Fourth Portrait”). The Queen wears the “Girls of Great Britain and Ireland” diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty’s grandmother) in 1947 – which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits. In tiny letters below the head, the artist’s initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

The portrait is smaller than usual; it is flanked by geometrical drawings – three on the left, and three on the right. Around above, on two lines the legend of the monarch and the date of issue: ELIZABETH II TOKELAU 2022. Around below, the face value 5 DOLLARS, The background represents a rounded decagon covered with mystical symbols. The rim is decorated with four stars.

Tesla was truly a remarkable person that devoted his life to discovery while additionally relishing the role of showmanship. Tesla became well known as an inventor and would even demonstrate his achievements to celebrities and wealthy patrons at his lab, and was noted for his showmanship at public lectures.

Born and raised in the Austrian Empire, Tesla received an advanced education in engineering and physics in the 1870s and gained practical experience in the early 1880s working in telephony and at Continental Edison in the new electric power industry. He emigrated to the United States in 1884, where he would become a naturalized citizen. He worked for the Edison Machine Works in New York City a short time before he struck out on his own.

In 1887, Tesla met two investors who agreed to back the formation of the Tesla Electric Company. He set up a laboratory in Manhattan, where he developed the alternating current induction motor, which solved a number of technical problems that had bedeviled other designs. When Tesla demonstrated his device at an engineering meeting, the Westinghouse Company made arrangements to license the technology, providing an upfront payment and royalties on each horsepower generated.

The so-called “War of the Currents” was raging in the late 1880s. Thomas Edison promoted direct current, asserting that it was safer than AC. George Westinghouse backed AC, since it could transmit power over long distances. Because the two were undercutting each other’s prices, Westinghouse lacked capital. He explained the difficulty and asked Tesla to sell his patents to him for a single lump sum, to which Tesla agreed, forgoing what would have been a vast fortune had he held on to them.

With the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 looming in Chicago, Westinghouse asked Tesla to help supply power; they’d have a huge platform for demonstrating the merits of AC. Tesla helped the fair illuminate more light bulbs than could be found in the entire city of Chicago, and wowed audiences with a variety of wonders, including an electric light that required no wires. Later Tesla also helped Westinghouse win a contract to generate electrical power at Niagara Falls, helping to build the first large-scale AC power plant in the world.

Tesla lived in a time when the world demanded results that were practical and profitable rather than revolutionary. To this point, Tesla spent most of his career being broke and eventually died penniless and alone in a New York City hotel room.

One of Tesla’s final gifts to the world was a tower near New York City that would have provided free wireless energy to the entire world. The man who financed the construction of the tower shut it down when he learned that there would be no way to regulate the energy which would mean no return of profit on his investment.

It is said that he held over 300 patents with some of his most notable being the alternating current, electric motors, remote control, television, radio, x-rays, cell phones, robotics, lasers, turbine engines, magnetic propulsion, drones, solar power adaptations, weather manipulation, particle beams and electromagnetic energy (Tesla coil).

Thanks to his obsession with cleanliness, the world’s first ozone generator was designed and patented by Nikola Tesla in 1886. A few years later, the Tesla Ozone Company was founded, which started large-scale production of ozone generating equipment for medical purposes and by 1915 there were already around 49 large-scale ozone installations for water treatment in Europe.

Pioneer 10 – The first man-made object that left our solar system began its journey on March 3, 1972. It carries a gold-anodized aluminium plaque in case the spacecraft is ever found by intelligent life-forms from another planetary system.

Pioneer 10 would travel through the asteroid belt and head towards Jupiter, at speeds of up to 80,000 mph. It was thrown like a slingshot out of the solar system to explore the great beyond. Inspired by Greek and Roman sculpture, artist Linda Sagan Carl’s wife and Frank Drake, an astronomer who worked with Sagan at NASA, began to sketch out a visual message that could be understood by extraterrestrials that might encounter it. And, like any great

The finished plaque was mounted on the front of the pioneer spacecraft, and just days later, possibly the last time it was to be seen by human eyes, it was launched into the cosmos to float forever through infinite space, waiting to be found by friendly extraterrestrial beings.

Scrooge McDuck
In 1947, Scrooge McDuck made his first appearance in the Disney comic “Christmas on Bear Mountain” where he began his role as Donald Duck’s uncle. In this first story, he appears much more like his namesake, Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, where his bitterness and dislike for humanity is on full display. However, further development of the character would make him into the more likable and outgoing business tycoon we’ve come to know and love. In cartoon form, Scrooge would be portrayed as a Scottish-American based in the fictional city of Duckburg. While known for his exclamatory one-liners and opulent displays of over-the-top wealth, Scrooge’s curmudgeonly ways center mostly on demanding high standards of those around him. Samurai (侍) were the hereditary military nobility and officer caste of medieval and early-modern Japan from the late 12th century until their abolition in 1876. During the peaceful Edo era (1603 to 1868), they became the stewards and chamberlains of the daimyo estates, gaining managerial experience and education. In the 1870s, samurai families comprised 5% of the population. As modern militaries emerged in the 19th century, the samurai were rendered increasingly obsolete and very expensive to maintain compared to the average conscript soldier. The Meiji Restoration ended their feudal roles, and they moved into professional and entrepreneurial roles. Their memory and weaponry remain prominent in Japanese popular culture.

According to Stephen Spielberg, the concept for E.T. evolved out of a question he asked himself about what if an alien from Close Encounters of the Third Kind had stayed behind as a sort of exchange student. He then imagined the character from the perspective of his own childhood and the loneliness he felt during his parent’s divorce. Thus, E.T. was created as a friendly extra-terrestrial being who was left behind on Earth, but aided by the young boy Elliot to return home. Based on the story “Happy Dan, The Cynical Dog” from a 1945 Cosmopolitan Magazine, Lady and the Tramp is a love story between a Cocker Spaniel named Lady and a mutt named Tramp. The well-known film was released in 1955 by Walt Disney. In the popular film, Lady is from an upper-middle-class home while Tramp is only a stray mutt. As a new baby arrives in Lady’s home followed by her owners’ vacation, Lady must adjust to Aunt Sarah and her Siamese cats. As Lady transitions from a beloved pet to an outcast in her own home, she catches the attention of Tramp.

The most memorable scene of the film occurs when Lady, having been rescued from a muzzle put on by Aunt Sarah, is shown by Tramp how to live collar-free. Tramp takes Lady to a local Italian restaurant where the owner, upon seeing the two dogs together, puts together a candlelit dinner in the back alley with spaghetti and meatballs. Star Wars Rebel Alliance Starbird
Following the collapse of the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, an alliance of star systems rebelled and thus began the Galactic Civil War. As a symbol of that alliance, rebel leaders such as Leia Organa would adopt the starbird or phoenix which had appeared informally in anti-Imperial graffiti, in response to the demise of Galen Marek whose family crest bore the same symbol. Marek, an apprentice to Darth Vader, turned from the Dark side and sacrificed himself to protect the leaders who would go on to found the Rebel Alliance. This symbol would appear on the helmets, starships and other equipment of the alliance. Thanks to the leadership of Leia Organa, Admiral Ackbar, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and many others the Rebellion would eventually be victorious.

As a direct reactionary movement to the formation of the Empire, the Rebel insurgency conducted covert operations on Imperial garrison-worlds and utilized a stateless strategy in conjunction with wolfpack-guerrilla warfare against the Imperial Fleet throughout the galaxy. Capital ships had no place in the Rebellion; they are expensive to build, maintain, and to keep fully crewed. The Rebellion was far too limited in both manpower and resources to justify putting so much of both into a giant target. When the Galactic Empire is capable of always fielding greater numbers and greater firepower, being able to hit high-valued targets and get out is much more important. While the Empire considers all dissent and rebellion as acts of extremism and terrorism in Imperial propaganda, the Alliance is described and portrayed in various Star Wars media as a group of resilient freedom fighters, based on tolerance, self-empowerment, and hope for a better future using insurgency weapons and tactics.

Fish Series
The first year for the country of Tokelau to issue this coin was 2014. In 2020, the program was redesigned with a limited mintage and updated modern artwork as well. The design of the reverse changes every year on this bullion coin and has featured a variety of species of fish. The design changes make year of issue unique.

The Lionfish is a genus of venomous marine fish,  native to the Indo-Pacific. Also called firefish, turkeyfish, tastyfish, or butterfly-cod, it is characterized by conspicuous warning coloration with red, white, creamy, or black bands, showy pectoral fins, and venomous, spiky fin rays. Pterois radiata, Pterois volitans, and Pterois miles are the most commonly studied species in the genus. Pterois species are popular aquarium fish. P. volitans and P. miles are recent and significant invasive species in the west Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and Mediterranean Sea.

Tokelau
The country of issue, Tokelau is comprised of three small coral atolls located in the South Pacific Ocean. Schools of fish are attracted to these isolated atolls, with a variety of fish species including ruby snapper, yellowfin tuna and dolphinfish. In 2011, Tokelau declared 123,178 square miles to become a shark sanctuary. This sanctuary prohibits commercial fishing of all sharks and reduces shark mortality in its waters.

2022 Bird of Paradise Papua New Guinea 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

Issued between 1894 and 1911 the German New Guinea Mark was legal tender in the colony until fully replaced by the German Mark – itself supplanted four years later by the Australian Pound after the colony was captured in the First World War. The finest version was undoubtedly the 10 and 20 Mark gold coins issued from 1895. Depicting a bird of paradise with outstretched plumage, resting on a forest tree branch, it’s a stunning piece, which you can see in the image of an 1895 original piece further down.

The Commonwealth Mint had an easy job lat year reproducing that gorgeous reverse, thankfully resisting the temptation to tinker with the original design in any way.

Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coins were initially issued by the New Zealand Mint from 2010 to 2013 as the Fiji Taku. The design on the reverse was essentially the same, with the TURTLE inscription then reading TAKU instead, using the native Fijian term for the species. As of 2014, the coins have been issued for Niue.

Obverse

On the obverse of 2022 New Zealand $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle Silver Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this portrait of the Queen featured on British coins from 1998 to 2015, Australian coins from 1999 to 2018, and remains a popular choice on the coins of Commonwealth nations like Niue, Tuvalu, and the Cook Islands. The effigy shows the Queen in right-profile relief with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The inscriptions on this face read ELIZABETH II, NIUE, TWO DOLLARS, and 2021.

Reverse

The reverse field of 2022 New Zealand $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle 1 oz Silver Coins comes with a depiction of the hawksbill. A species of sea turtle, the hawksbill has a global distribution throughout the equatorial belt of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. The design here shows the turtle swimming along through the water with bubbles passing around its figure. There is a smooth sliver along the side that reads TURTLE, with an inscription below the design element of FINE SILVER .999 1 OZ.

The 2022 Cook Island Bounty 1 oz Silver Bullion Coin

Before it was known as HMS Bounty, the ship was built in 1784 in Hull, Yorkshire, England, at the Blaydes shipyard. The small merchant vessel was commissioned as the Bethia and operated for three years as a private vessel. In May 1787, the ship was sold to the Royal Navy and recommissioned as HMS Bounty, also known as the HM Armed Vessel Bounty. The ship would go on to make just one infamous voyage in its history.

All of the 2022 1 oz Cook Islands Bounty Silver Coins in this product listing are brand-new for 2020 and come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged individually inside of protective plastic capsules.

On the obverse side of the 2022 Cook Islands Bounty Silver Coin is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile bust of the Queen is the popular Ian Rank-Broadley design created for the Royal Mint of England in 1998. The bust of the Queen shown here has the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. This image featured on British coins from 1998 to 2015, Australian coins from 1999 to 2018, and continues to feature on the coins of nations such as New Zealand, Niue, Tokelau, and the Cook Islands.

The reverse face of 2022 1 oz Cook Islands Bounty Silver Coins includes a depiction of HMS Bounty as it sails across the ocean. HMS Bounty was placed under the command of William Bligh upon its commission into the Royal Navy in 1787 and sent to the South Pacific on a botanical mission. The aim of this mission was to acquire breadfruit plants to transport to the British West Indies.

While HMS Bounty set out on a simple mission, it met an infamous end in the course of its expedition as a mutiny led by Fletcher Christian succeeded in taking control of the ship. HMS Bounty met its doom elsewhere, but during its voyage passed through the islands of the Cook Islands.

This Premium Bullion Coin was struck by the New Zealand Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver and is dedicated to Aquaman™. 2022 New Zealand Kiwi Specimen Finish 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

The 2022 Kiwi coin was struck by New Zealand Post from 1 ounce of 99.9% silver in uncirculated quality and features a Specimen finish.

Designed by Stephen Fuller, the motive depicts a Little Spotted Kiwi (Apteryx owenii) sitting in a nest with its chick. The design also includes the inscription “LITTLE SPOTTED KIWI – APTERYX OWENII” and the denomination.

The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions “NEW ZEALAND,” “.999 Ag 1oz,” “ELIZABETH II” and “2022.” The Little spotted kiwi, which the Māori also call “kiwi pukupuku” due to its round-bellied appearance, is the smallest of the five kiwi species. It lives on five islands off the coasts of New Zealand, where it was deliberately introduced by humans to ensure the survival of its species after it was almost wiped out on the two main islands. The plumage of the small omnivore is grayish brown to grayish with tiny pale spots.

The Specimen Finish Kiwi Silver Coin is limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide and is delivered in an illustrated blistercard from the New Zealand Post.

2022 Fiji Dogs 1oz 999 Silver Bullion Coin

The first issue of the new Series Fiji Dogs. The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver and is issued in a mintage of only 12,000 pieces worldwide. The motive shows a Dog that seems to run towards the viewer, as well as a house and mountains in the background. The name of the series, “DOGS”, is also included in the design. The reverse features the national emblem of Fiji, as well as the weight, fineness and denomination of the coin.

Dogs are generally considered “man’s best friend.” The domestication of the wolf can be dated back more than 100,000 years, making the dog the oldest domestic animal of man. Today, there are about 800 known dog breeds – the Chihuahua is one of the smallest recognized dog breeds, whereas the Great Dane with a withers height of at least 80 cm and the Irish Wolfhound with up to 95 cm are among the largest dog breeds.

The obverse of the silver coin is occupied by Fiji’s national coat of arms, in use since 1908. A shield is placed in the center of the depiction above a banner with the motto of the South Seas state “Rerevaka na Kalou ka doka na Tui.” (Fear God and honor the Queen). In the shield head is a golden, crowned lion with a cocoa pod in its paws. Below, a St. George’s cross divides the shield into four fields. In the four fields there are representatives of the flora and fauna typical of the country: a sugar cane plant, a coconut palm, a dove of peace and a banana tree. The shield is flanked on either side by two warriors in the local loincloths, one armed with a spear and the other with a club. A traditional outrigger boat with a sail is adorned above the shield.

Reverse: The largest part of the depiction is taken up by a dog, which jumps towards the viewer with its snout happily open and its tail raised. Front paws are crossed in the air while he pushes off with powerful hind legs ready for the next leap. He presents his tongue to the viewer as if he is already panting from running so fast. Its long, well-groomed fur flaps in the wind. The background is a mountain backdrop, the slopes of which rise steeply to the right. On the right side, on a hill in front of the mountains, a house nestles against the mountainside. The obverse bears the title of the coin series, “DOGS”.

Saint Helena is a small island in the South Atlantic Ocean which is part of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. The currency of the island is the Saint Helena pound, fixed at parity with the pound sterling. The island has authorised some private mints to issue coins under its jurisdiction, which come in a variety of sizes – including in the popular silver ounce (1 oz silver) format, usually denominated as £1.

The Indian cobra (Naja Naja) – a poisonous snake found on the Indian subcontinent – is considered a symbol of luck and wisdom. On average, the snake reaches a length of 2 meters, making it one of the largest venomous snakes, which are common from the southern Himalayas to Sri Lanka. 2022 Sir Isaac Newton Icons of Inspiration 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

The third issue of the series Icons of Inspiration is dedicated to Sir Isaac Newton. The motive was designed by coin designer Joel Iskowitz and features an image of the eminent scientist with symbols that are representative of his teachings. In his right hand, he holds a prism that refracts a beam of light. The Quarter Guinea gold coin of 1718 and an open book with an inscribed formula on which an apple lies are in the foreground. In the background are three planets kept in motion by the forces given in the equation of the book. Below the portrait is Newton’s signature. The reverse displays a triumphant image of a muse stretching her arm towards the sun. Also included in the design is the official coat of arms of Niue, as well as the denomination and year of issue.

Born on December 25, 1642 in the English county of Lincolnshire, Isaac Newton was one of the most important physicists, mathematicians and astronomers in history. With his “Philosophiae Naturalis Principa Mathematica”, he researched the theory of gravity, which made an important contribution to our understanding of the universe and with whose help he explained why an apple falls to the ground. Other areas of research to which Newton devoted himself were optics (refraction of light), algebra, and mechanics. In 1696, he was appointed keeper of the Royal Mint and minted the first ever quarter guinea coin – replacing the scarce five-shilling silver crown. At this time Newton showed great political commitment. He was knighted in 1705 and held the title of “Sir” until his death on March 20, 1726.
