The Perth Mint continues to honor Australias rich wildlife through its annual bullion series, featuring iconic animals like the Kookaburra and Kangaroo. The Australian Emu series adds another unique option for collectors, with striking designs that change yearly.

Like the ostrich and kiwi, the emu belongs to the so-called ratite family. Because they are very large and heavy, they are unable to fly, but can run enduringly and fast. Emus are at home all over Australia. These adaptable animals can reach an age of up to 20 years and feed mainly on grass, flowers, seeds, fruits and insects. In terms of height, the Australian emu is the second largest bird in the world after the ostrich. The mintage of this coin is limited to only 30,000 pieces worldwide. The silver bullion coin is delivered in a protective capsule.

Obverse The obverse of the 2025 Australian Emu Silver Coin displays a portrait of King Charles III. Designed by Dan Thorne, this is the first time King Charles III appears in this coin series, shown in a left-profile relief without a crown.

Reverse The coin’s reverse portrays an adult emu walking alongside five young chicks. The background includes a representation of a desert landscape, sky and sun. The inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’ appears within the design, along with the coin’s weight, purity, 2025 year-date, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
