COIN INFORMATION

Brumby is the term for Australia’s wild horse. Brumbies that most famously roam the Australian Alps are descended from lost, abandoned or escaped horses that in many cases belonged to early colonial settlers like James Brumby. Free-roaming, independent and naturally adapted to its rugged environment, the brumby has become a national icon seen by many as symbolic of our national character.

The 2025 Australian Brumby 1oz silver coin showcases Australia’s wild horse, known as the brumby, symbolizing the country’s national character and resilience. The coin features two poised on the arid desert plains by Aleysha Howarth. The design includes inscriptions of ‘AUSTRALIAN BRUMBY,’ The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the coin’s weight, fineness, and the year-date. The obverse displays the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III.

The coin includes a micro-laser engraved letter that enhances its security against counterfeiting. This feature is detectable under magnification, making it more difficult to replicate the coin’s authenticity. It comes presented in a protective acrylic capsule

Obverse: effigy of King Charles III, surrounded by inscriptions with the monarch’s name, denomination, and issuing country. The design is in line with official Australian releases.

Reverse: two Brumby horses in a dry Australian landscape. The top features the inscription “AUSTRALIAN BRUMBY”; at the bottom are the year of issue and details on weight and purity. The Perth Mint’s “P” mark appears on the right side.

Just 25,000 of these coins will ever be struck for worldwide release.
