The long-running Australian Lunar Coin Series, first published in 1995 and now in its third cycle, honors the animals of the Chinese zodiac with a catalog of annual designs. The strengths of the 12 animals of the lunar calendar are said to be evident in those born during their rule. Individuals born in the years 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025 are connected to the Snake, further enhancing the personal significance of this year’s release.

In Chinese astrology, the Snake is associated with wisdom, intuition, and deep reflection. Those born under this sign are believed to possess calmness, ambition, and a strategic mindset. The Snake is often seen as a symbol of transformation, making this coin not only a beautiful piece but also a meaningful addition to any collection or investment portfolio.

The Perth Mint has put a limit on the 2 oz coins and will only produce up to 10,000 Coloured two oz coins. The output will stop until the mintage is entirely sold or at the conclusion of the series, whichever comes first. Because of the 2 oz size’s limited mintage, it is extremely sought-after and is likely to sell out easily. The coins are strictly struck from 99.99 percent pure silver and are issued under the Australian Currency Act 1965 as legal tender.

The reverse: features a coiled snake in a serene natural setting, possibly near a body of water or stone, framed by flowing branches. Like the gold version, the Chinese character for “snake” and the year “2025” are also inscribed.

The obverse: The obverse has a similar profile portrait of King Charles III with the text “Charles III,” “Australia,” and the denomination of 1 dollar. The markings “2 oz 9999 Ag” show that this is a 2-ounce, 99.99% pure silver coin.
