This pattern was provided by Fayne Robinson from Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio.

I foolishly ordered two, based naively, I have to admit, on the the promo image, it made it look spectacular, which I presume were put out by the mint because every web site I’ve checked out since, all carry the same photo-realistic images of the kiwi’s on whats described as a “specimen” coin, but sadly folks what arrived looks nothing like the crystal clear image shown, its more a fuzzy mess, with a premium price to boot.

Grissle reminds me of why I should always take my own photo’s & try not to use the stock photo’s which 80% of the time do not reflect how the coins looks in the hand regardless of the mint using them.
Originally as this was Grissle’s first coin review I allowed it & tried to reach out to him so I could make amends for his disappointment but so far he has not answered the phone so I hid the review again as I did not feel a 1 star review was fair.
Since then I have added my own photo’s for a better comparison (not that photo’s always do lol).
I also reached out to a few customers who collect the kiwi coins for feedback & the general view is the coins are fine & just like previous years releases, the coin is busy but the quality is good & the detail on it is excellent when looked at closely so I have given this coin a 5 star rating to balance out the 1 star review from Grissle which is unfair but understandable for someone who does not normally collect premium coins & lets be fair the stock photo’s are imaginary to say the least lol. Sincerely martin

I am very happy with my Kiwi. The design is good and well-executed, and the coin is a very good continuation of the series. The fine detail of the birds and the vegetation is amazingly realistic.
The ‘stock photo’ is just an image put out by the mint and intended to give an early indication of the coin’s appearance. It is clearly not a photo of the actual coin and looks flat, like a drawing, without showing any of the relief that the actual coin has. It’s a shame that anyone was misled by it, but the situation can almost certainly be resolved, and (as I said above) the coin is beautiful.
