COIN INFORMATION

As the tenth release in the exclusive Warrior Series this silver round features Leonidas. The first in the series is Eric Bloodaxe, the second being Julius Caesar, the third being Achilles, the fourth being Alexander The Great, the fifth being Genghis Khan, the sixth being Geronimo, the seventh being Joan of Arc. the eighth being Sparticas and the ninth being Hannibal. This round commemorates Leonidas, Leonidas was one of the key figures in the Greek resistance against the Persian invasion led by Xerxes.

At Thermopylae, he led a small force of 300 Spartans, accompanied by several thousand allied Greek soldiers, to hold the pass against a vastly larger Persian army. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Leonidas and his men fought valiantly for three days. His decision to stay and fight to the death became a symbol of courage and sacrifice. The Spartans’ stand at Thermopylae delayed the Persian advance, giving the Greek city-states valuable time to prepare for subsequent battles. Leonidas’ heroism has been celebrated in history and popular culture, cementing his legacy as one of ancient Greece’s most outstanding military leaders.

The obverse: The obverse features a striking portrait of Leonidas, shield raised and helmet donned, flanked by Spartan warriors—symbolizing unwavering courage. The reverse presents a dynamic array of ancient weaponry over a wooden shield, framed by inscriptions denoting the round’s weight and purity.

The reverse: then features the common design that will be used throughout the series which depicts an array of historic weaponry that represents each of the warriors to come in this Legendary Warriors Series. The words “LEGENDARY WARRIORS” and “1. OZ 999 FINE SILVER” are curved around the top and bottom of the design.
