The sixth issue of the new Lunar Series was struck by the Royal Australian Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver and is dedicated to the Year of the Snake. Following the tiger, the ox, the rat, the rabbit & the dragon this is the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The motive features a snake winding it’s way through the bamboo. In addition, the inscription “YEAR OF THE SNAKE”, the Chinese character for “snake” and the weight and fineness are engraved.

The year 2025 belongs to the snake and is perceived as a time of deep reflection, wisdom and inner development. Snakes have a reputation for being philosophical thinkers who are patient and reflective. The Chinese zodiac sign of the Snake falls in the years: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013 and 2025

The reverse: shows the figure of a snake. On the reverse there is the inscription “YEAR OF THE SNAKE” and a Chinese character. The designer of the reverse was B.Scott.

The obverse: is decorated with the image of King Charles III of Great Britain and the inscriptions “CHARLES III”, “AUSTRALIA”, as well as 12 animals from the Chinese lunar calendar. The obverse contains information about the nominal value and year of minting.
