Mandrills are one of the more popular monkeys thanks to their stunning red noses and blue-colored cheeks. They also have prominent brows, long muzzles, and shimmering fur, which gives them a rather intimidating appearance. However, Mandrills are actually considered quite friendly. Even when they bare their enormous teeth at you, this is likely an act of affection rather than hostility. That said, one should always exercise caution around them since they are, after all, the largest monkeys on the planet.

Scottsdale Mint opened in 2009 as a silver reseller in Scottsdale, Arizona. The following year, CEO Josh Phair expanded the company to include a mint division. Scottsdale started with their popular stacker silver bar, and then within a year, they were also producing gold bullion coins. Today, Scottsdale Mint produces an enormous array of rounds, bars, and coins, including legal tender products for over 20 countries.

With this final release, the Big Five series has now featured the African elephant, lion, rhino, leopard, and finally, the buffalo. Each coin is struck in .999 fine silver BU. This highly unique series is absolutely a must-have for fine bullion collectors

Originally, Big Five was associated with the five most difficult and dangerous animals to hunt on foot. The term is now used to describe the five African animals that are considered must-see, each magnificently impressive. Tourists fortunate enough to view them in their natural habitat report that it is one of their most exciting memories. Sadly, these five animals are endangered. However, it is hoped that this series of bullion coins will help bring greater attention to their plight.

Currently, nature reserves are being set up all over Africa, providing these animals a safe habitat in which to live and thrive. Hopefully, through these and other efforts, generations to come will continue to enjoy the ability to observe and appreciate these animals in their natural habitat.

The 2021 Krugerrand continues this legendary tradition in a new metal. Much like its gold sibling, the Silver Krugerrand offers investors a great way to own low-premium bullion. Whereas the 2017 Silver Krugerrand was marketed as a higher-premium collector coin, the 2021 as was the 2018, 2019 & 2020 editions were priced at a slim margin over melt. Its market premium is comparable to the Silver Maple Leaf, Britannia, Kangaroo, and Philharmonic. Unlike the other sovereign coins in its class, however, the Krugerrand offers multi-generational demand and recognition. Gold investors have turned to the Krugerrand for over 50 years; now they can own this trusted coin in silver too.

The 2021 1 oz Silver Krugerrand also features its face value as part of the obverse design. The original reverse design of a leaping springbok antelope is also sharper and more defined thanks to the latest computer technology and laser etching techniques. The obverse of this prestigious 2021 silver coin features the well-known portrait of Paul Kruger by Otto Schultz.

During her quest, she faces many challenges that test her humility and determination, including being confronted by a fierce lion. The lion is so taken by her beauty and purity that he abandons his attack on her, becoming her protector and loyal companion.

Una enlists the help of a knight to help her slay the Dragon. Steadfast and true to her cause, Una’s virtues inspire the knight to slay the dragon and fulfil his destiny as the hero St George, the patron saint of England. This epic tale is the creation of celebrated English poet Edmund Spencer. Written in 1590 the story of Una and the Lion has stood the test of time to become a symbol of beauty, strength, honor, and endurance.

Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse side of the 2021 St. Helena Silver Una and the Lion Coin. Her Majesty is shown here in the right-profile portrait created for the Royal Mint of England in 2015. It began debuting on British coins in 2016 and has been adapted for use on coinage throughout the Commonwealth and territories of England.

2021 South Korea Chiwoo Cheonwang 1 ounce Silver Bullion Medal

Manufacturer: Komsco
Dimensions:
40.0mm
Weight (grams):
31.10300
Fineness:
999

The 2021 release features an all-new, one-year-only design struck in a full ounce of highly pure 99.9% silver. It depicts Chiwoo Cheonwang, South Korea’s legendary God of War madly thumping a traditional battle drum amid a host of soldiers on horseback riding past in the background. Cheonwang’s cape has been caught by the wind and majestically float above him to form a backdrop for the name of the series, “CHIWOO CHEONWANG” to be engraved along the rim of the coin. You’ll also want to look closely at the war drum where you’ll see an image of Dokkaebi, a supernatural goblin. That same design appears on Cheonwang’s left shoulder and is repeated on the medal’s obverse.

Chiwoo Cheonwang upon whose life these designs are based on, is the symbol of victory in Korean history and folklore. In battle, he wore a demonic mask that obscured his face and terrified his enemies. Combined with his ability to cast magic spells and control the weather, Chiwoo Cheonwang fought a series of epic battles against China’s Yellow Emperor more than 4,500 years ago. Today his mask serves as the mascot for South Korea’s national soccer team, the Red Devils.

  • Obverse: 2021 continues with the 2020 version of the gwi-myeon-wa, the shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang. The design features stronger facial features as well as two large bull horns. This grinning gi-wa design is owned by the Gyeongju National Museum of the Republic of Korea. Design also incorporates a lenticular security feature.
  • Reverse: Depicts the great Chiwoo Cheonwang in full battle dress beating on a traditional war drum with such fierceness that lightning bolts shoot out amid his soldiers on horseback.

2021 South Korea Zi Sin Taurus 1 ounce Silver Bullion Medal

Manufacturer: Komsco
Dimensions:
40.0mm
Weight (grams):
31.10300
Fineness:
999

The Zi:Sin series is back for its 5th release, this time featuring the Guardian known as Taurus. Zi:Sin are twelve Guardians from Korean mythology. Inspired by the lunar calendar, they are tasked with protecting against evil forces from twelve different directions. Taurus is not only the guardian of peace, but also the God of War.

The Zi:Sin series from KOMSCO offers an intriguing twist on well-known lunar calendar coins. Rather than offer twelve animals representing each month, the series turns to Korean lore and presents the 12 Guardians. According to myth, there are evil forces from twelve directions on the lunar calendar wheel. The Guardians are divinely ordained protectors against these dangerous forces lurking around us. There are 12 Guardians in total, each one representing an animal on the lunar calendar.

Each Guardian is assigned with unique powers to help in the fight of good versus evil. While Taurus is known to defend peace, he is also the God of War. As such, he is a large, striking presence. He is seen forging a sword, signaling both skill and preparedness. There is little doubt encroaching evil forces will cower in fright in the presence of such an imposing figure.

2021 South Korean Taurus Silver Medals arrive to you in brilliant uncirculated condition. All medals come in individual plastic capsules.

The obverse of the 2021 1 oz Zi:Sin Taurus Silver Medal features the Doggaebi, a mythical creature in Korean lore that fends off dark spirits. The design is based on a famous tile found in the ancient Korean kingdom of Silla. On the border of the coin are the weight, purity, date, and country. KOMSCO is spelled out at the bottom of the medal. Also, rather than 1 Troy oz, the medal says 1 Clay. This is simply a measurement from the mint that is the equivalent of a Troy oz.

The reverse features the guardian Taurus front and center. Taurus has flowing hair and is seen forging a sword. This suggests both his warrior ethos and that he is primed for battle. He appears poised and ready to ward off any evil spirits that dare approach. On the border of the medal are the words Zi:Sin Taurus.

Ching Shih (born Shih Yang 1775–1844), was a Chinese pirate leader who terrorized the China Seas during the Jiaqing Emperor period of the Qing dynasty in the early 19th century. She commanded over 1800 junks (traditional Chinese sailing ships) manned by 60,000 to 80,000 pirates – men, women, and occasionally children. Her ships entered into conflict with several major powers, such as the East India Company, the Portuguese Empire, and the Qing government.

In January 1808, the Chinese government tried to destroy her fleet in a series of fierce battles. However, Ching Shih inflicted several defeats on the Chinese navy, capturing and commandeering several of their ships. The government had to revert to using fishing vessels for battle. At the same time that the government was attacking her, Ching Shih faced a larger threat in the form of other pirate fleets.

In September and November 1809, Ching Shih and Cheung Po Tsai fleet suffered a series of defeats at the hands of the Portuguese Navy at the Battle of the Tiger’s Mouth, eventually coming to the realization there was no way they would be able to hold out forever. In their final battle at Chek Lap Kok in 1810, they surrendered to the Portuguese Navy on 21 January and later accepted an amnesty offered by the Qing Imperial government to all pirates who agreed to surrender, ending their career and allowed to keep the loot that same year.

The Pirate Queens – Ching Shih Premium Bullion Coin in Silver is limited to only 10,000 pieces worldwide and is delivered in a protective capsule.

There’s something special about wild horses running free, but the free-roaming mustangs of America’s West aren’t the world’s only wild horses. There are also herds of them roaming about the Australian Alps region in the nation’s Northern Territory and Queensland. These equine beauties are known as Brumby Horses or “Brumbies” in honor of James Brumby (1771-1838), an English soldier and pastoralist. Brumby was forced to turn loose the horses he had bred and raised in New South Wales after being transferred to Tasmania in 1804. Today, these feral creatures descended from Brumby’s original stock have come to symbolize Australia’s independent nature and ability to thrive in a hostile environment.

To pay tribute to these magnificent animals, Australia’s world-renowned Peth Mint has released a silver coin that depicts an unrestrained Brumby Horse confidently leaping among a steep outcropping of rocks somewhere in the wilds of Australia. The second year in the Brumby series of bullion coins, this beauty was struck in a full ounce of 99.99% pure silver. Fineness: 999

The Royal Fortune was captained by the legendary Pirate Black Bart,  This is the second subject of a new series of silver and gold bullion coins from the Perth Mint, Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, pirates roamed the seven seas, with each ship displaying a unique “black flag” to announce its arrival and make clear mercy would be given only to those who surrendered.

Born in Pembrokeshire. In 1718, when he was second mate on the Princess, his ship was captured by the Welsh pirate, Howel Davis, and he was forced to serve under his captor. When Davis was killed, Roberts, who in six weeks had shown great courage and resourcefulness, was elected captain. He accepted, saying that since he had dipped his hands in muddy water it was better to be commander than a common man. Notoriety came speedily. He sailed into a fleet of forty-two Portuguese ships, ascertained which was the richest, boarded, and sailed off with her. Soon he struck terror everywhere. When he entered a harbour in Newfoundland, their crews abandoned the twenty-two ships there. After successes, the pirates went ashore at places like Surinam and Sierra Leone, indulging wild debauchery until their resources were exhausted. Not that success was unbroken; once at least they were long in extremities for want of provisions and water. One of their finest captures was a frigate built ship of the Royal African Company. Roberts renamed her the Royal Fortune. Captain Chaloner Ogle, R.N., managed to bring her to battle off Cape Lopez.

Founded in 1829 on the shores of the Swan River, the original colony in the territory was in fact called Swan River Colony, the location of which is now Perth.

Perth grew rapidly in the late 19th century thanks to its rich deposits of natural resources such as oil, gas and perhaps most of all, Gold. From its origins The Perth Mint is in many ways personified by the Swan, a regal waterfowl that appears on the flag of Western Australia and symbolizes timelessness, elegance and beauty, much like the standard of coins produced by the Perth Mint itself.

The Perth Mint has a phenomenal reputation for producing high quality Silver bullion that also provides collectors the ability to collect an entire series that showcases different designs. Customers worldwide collect the Lunars, Kookaburras and Koalas due to their resell values and collectibility.

Swans are often a symbol of love and fidelity due to their long-lasting monogamous relationships. Swans are almost entirely herbivorous, though they will eat small amounts of aquatic animals. There are around seven different species of swan found around the world. Swans are classified as a threatened species mostly due to hunting and habitat loss. Pollution is also a contributing factor.

Provident Metals currently has 2021 Australian Shipwreck Zeewijk 1 oz Silver Coins available to you for purchase online.

The Zeewijk was, like all Dutch East India Company vessels, required to sail to Batavia using the Brouwer Route to cross from Cape of Good Hope off Africa to Batavia. The route used the prevailing westerly winds to travel eastward and then turn north for Batavia. The Zeewijks captain ignored this route in the interest of vising Western Australia.

As a result, the Zeewijk became shipwrecked on the coral reefs of the Houtman Abrolhos island group off the coast of Western Australia. 10 men died by drowning as the crew attempted to launch its longboat. Eventually, all the crewmembers were moved to Gun Island where seals, fruits, and fresh water were available to sustain the crew. 12 men setoff in the longboat for Batavia one month after the shipwreck, but were never seen again. By the fall of 1727, the crew used materials from the crashed Zeewijk and mangrove timber from Gun Island to build a boat they named Sloepie. In February 1728, the Sloepie set sail with the remaining survivors and reached Batavia in April. 82 of the original 208-man crew survived. The Sloepie became the first European vessel built in Australia.

By the late 19th Century, Chinese trade was growing both regionally and with the West. At the same time reforms within Chinese life were underway, many of them led by a strong female figure who herself played a key role in the story of the Chinese Trade Dollar. Shortly after the death of Emperor Xian Feng in 1861, his concubine Cixi assumed control and ruled China as The Empress Dowager. Cixi was able to read, a rare skill at that time, and educated herself on domestic and foreign affairs, creating policies that would modernise China’s culture and economy. The 2021 Silver Britannia 10 oz Silver Bullion Coin

Britannia has been the female embodiment of Britain for centuries, evolving through the ages to capture the spirit of the nation she represents. First appearing on the coins of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, Britannia has a long history with British coins. Today, this icon is the face of our flagship Britannia bullion coin, renowned for its beauty and reliability. This incarnation of Britannia was created by sculptor Philip Nathan in 1987. He presented the ‘queen of the seas’ with carefully chosen symbols of Britain’s identity – a shield for protection, an olive branch for peace and a trident for her maritime links. The award-winning design has become so highly-regarded that only The Royal Mint is able to strike genuine Britannia coins featuring Philip Nathan’s interpretation.

This modern classic of design has been struck on the 2021 Britannia bullion coin, which contains ten ounces of 999 fine silver and depicts Britannia standing boldly amongst the waves, surrounded by a background of radial lines.

The image of Britannia is always on the reverse, the coin has been minted in silver since 1997. The image of the Proof Britannia is changed every year, and odd years see Britannia standing and even years see her sitting.

The image may be different on the proof and Unc versions of the same year; this is especially true after 2013. There are variations to the 1oz coin, we see 5oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz and smaller; there are gold and platinum variants too. Generally the same year shares the same Britannia design.

Britannia, together with a combination of trident, Union Jack shield and lion are all symbols of Great Britain, devised many centuries ago to signify that Britain ruled the waves (as it did indeed in those days with the most powerful navy in the world). Britannia has been used on several other British coins.

Bowie chose to name himself after the Bowie knife as ‘it cuts both ways’.

Bowie has sold over 100 million records. Some of his best known works include Heroes, Life on Mars, Let’s Dance, Changes and his collaboration with Queen on the song Under Pressure. He was also an accomplished actor, with performances in The Prestige, The Man Who Fell to Earth, The Snowman, Zoolander, Extras and 80’s cult classic, Labyrinth.

The White Greyhound of Richmond is the last release in the collection.

In 1449, Henry VI granted the earldom of Richmond to his half-brother Edmund Tudor. With this grant, Edmund received Henry’s permission to use a particular version of the Royal Arms featuring a white greyhound as a heraldic supporter. Edmund’s only son would become Henry VII when he defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. The greyhound expressed both his Tudor and Lancastrian ancestry, through which he claimed the throne.

The shield the white greyhound is clutching shows the Tudor rose. Combining the red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York, it symbolises how Henry VII united these warring houses, ending the Wars of the Roses. Artist Jody Clark captures the greyhound’s nobility, as well as its power and elegance. Featuring a secure chainmail background, the realism of the White Greyhound of Richmond is displayed to its fullest.

The mythical creatures rumored to roam the wilds of North America and other corners of the world are coming alive in a new series from the Royal Canadian Mint. Launched in 2020, the new Creatures of the North Series focuses on mythical beasts that have been rumored to exist in Canada for centuries now.

Beware the full moon! Tales of strange creatures in the night have always haunted our imaginations, and in the province of Quebec, the loup-garou is one of the most famous legends of all. Werewolf sightings may date back to the age of New France, but in July 1767, an article in the Gazette de Québec cautioned the public to be on the look-out for a loup-garou in the guise of a beggar. Either the creature or its legend was brought to these shores by settlers from France, where, several decades before, a werewolf “epidemic” had resulted in witch trials and executions. And a few years prior to Quebec’s famous loup-garou sighting, hundreds of deaths in southern France were attributed to the Beast of Gévaudan, prompting King Louis XV to place a bounty on the werewolf’s head.

2021 Allegories Austria & Germania 1oz Silver Bullion Round

Manufacturer: Germania Mint
Dimensions:
38.6 mm x 2.3mm
Weight (grams):
31.1
Mintage: 25,000
Fineness: 999

Austria & Germania is the fourth coin from Germania Mint’s Allegories, coming to Collectors in 2021. The whole series depicts personifications of countries around the world in a form of beautiful, sensual and strong women. The Allegories coins are created in one diameter of 38.61 mm and four different heights and weights, from 3 mm for 1 oz coin to 25.85 mm for 10 oz coin, which is exceptional not only because of its thickness the blanks, from which it has been minted, were processed manually.

Obverse
The obverse of the coin presents the personifications of Austria and Germania, depicted as young and beautiful women. In the past, Lady Austria was regarded as the epitome of the multi-ethnic country… In the artistic vision of Germania Mint, she is holding a spear, which symbolizes the axis of the world, power, dignity and honour. Austria’s head is decorated with a laurel wreath, a symbol with multiple positive meanings, whilst Germania is crowned with a branch of an oak – the tree that has accompanied her from the very beginning of the series. In turn, our heroine holds her inherent attribute – the imperial sword “Reichsschwert”. Closeness between the two germanic amazons represents friendship between both cultures.

Reverse
According to the previous series, the image on the reverse is the coat of arms representing moral principles and noble values. Germania was a historical land and has never been an official country, that’s why we’ve decided to create our own interpretation of its coat of arms. Its symbols and design are a creation of our imagination, however it has been created in accordance with applicable heraldry rules.

The crowned shield has been divided into four parts, from which each has a traditional meaning, precisely defined by heraldry. The shield itself is a symbol of truth, loyalty and trust. The crown equals authority and nobility as well as chivalry.

In Ancient Chinese philosophy, yin and yang is a Chinese philosophical concept that describes how obviously opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. In Chinese cosmology, the universe creates itself out of a primary chaos of material energy, organized into the cycles of Yin and Yang and formed into objects and lives. Yin is the receptive and Yang the active principle, seen in all forms of change and difference such as the annual cycle (winter and summer), the landscape (north-facing shade and south-facing brightness), sexual coupling (female and male), the formation of both men and women as characters and sociopolitical history (disorder and order).

“Panta Rhei” – Everything flows and things come and go. When it comes to value, precious metals have always held a crucial position in the world of finance. Nowadays, a safe haven at the very least, a financial norm in the past. Silver currently holds an especially important position in the financial world and we believe it will continue to do so for a long time.

Now and forever.

Heraclitus recognized the fundamental changing of objects with the flow of time (i.e., impermanence) and the philosophical issue of becoming.

He is credited with the phrase πάντα ῥεῖ (panta rhei) “everything flows.”This famous aphorism used to characterize Heraclitus’ thought comes from Simplicius, a neoplatonist, and from Plato’s Cratylus. The word rhei (as in rheology) is the Greek word for “to stream”, and is etymologically related to Rhea according to Plato’s Cratylus. Compare with the Latin adages Omnia mutantur and Tempora mutantur (8 AD) and the Buddhist and Hindu concepts of anicca.

“Germania” is the Latin term for Germany, from which the name “Germany” is used in English language today. Due to the connection with patriotic feelings, this word was present mainly in German literature and poetry. In ancient times the area inhabited by Germans east of the Rhine and north of the Danube rivers was called Germania. At that time its first personifications on coins and reliefs appeared, depicting a brave woman – the guardian of the nation.

Obverse
Lady Germania, in a daring pose on the bow of a sailing vessel, appears to be leading her people on a journey into broad waters. Traditionally, crowned with a laurel wreath, she is clad in her armor and falling cloth. In her hands she wields the imperial sword Reichsschwert and a flag fluttering in the wind. What makes the 2021 coin extraordinary, is the broadening perspective of the obverse on the subsequent coins in the series – 1, 2, 10 oz and 1 kg.

Reverse
The reverse of the 2021 coin remains unchanged, presenting the Germania Mint effigy with a two-headed eagle holding lightning bolts, surrounded by olive branches. The eagle is a symbol from Germanic mythology, associated with Janus – the god of all origins, guardian of gates and bridges, the patron of alliances. The eagle’s heads facing the opposite symbolize the past and the future.

Tolkien’s first installment in his book trilogy that was initially published in 1954. Peter Jackson directed and filmed The Lord of the Rings series in his native New Zealand. The series was released in 2001 and 2003 and received raving reviews.

The Rings of Power was forged by the Elves in the home of Eregion.
The material from which the rings were made was extremely resistant. Only the fire of Mount Doom or the dragon, which, however, no longer existed at the time of The Lord of the Rings book, could destroy the rings (except for the ONE RING )

“Three rings to the Elven kings high in the light,
Seven to the dwarf rulers in their halls of stone,
To mortals eternally doomed, nine.
One to the Dark Ruler on Dark Throne,
In the land of Mordor, where the shadows threaten.
A ring to slave them, to find them all,
To cast into darkness and bind forever.
In the land of Mordor, where the shadows threaten.”

Star Wars: Grogu “The Child” (aka Baby Yoda)
Born of the same race as Jedi Master Yoda, Grogu was raised under the tutelage of the Jedi Order before the fall of the Galactic Republic. As a very long-lived race, their young have an extremely prolonged period of adolescence. When initially introduced, Grogu is only known as “The Child” and despite appearing like a toddler he is actually 50 years old. This character melted the hearts of fans all around the world who referred to him as “Baby Yoda.” Perhaps it was this cuteness that turned the Mandalorian from bounty hunter to protector.

Grogu’s journey began at the Jedi Temple in the Galactic capital planet of Coruscant where he was trained in the ways of The Force with other younglings. During the Great Jedi Purge, he was rescued from the siege on the Jedi Temple and taken into hiding. During the reign of the new Galactic Empire, Grogu remained hidden by concealing his abilities. At some point after the fall of the Galactic Empire he was captured by a group of Nikto on Arvala-7. It is at this time that remaining Imperial forces hired assassins and bounty hunters to seek the child to kill or capture. These are the events that begin the highly popular Star Wars Mandalorian series on Disney Plus.

This coin marks 20 years of everyone’s favorite big green grumpy underdog. Shrek subverted standard fairytale hero tropes and had audiences rolling with laughter! Commemorate the start of a pop-culture phenomenon!

Originally based on a children’s picture book of the same name, the rights to Shrek were purchased by Stephen Spielberg and made into the Dreamworks film that we all know and love today. Shrek was originally voiced by Chris Farley, but later reworked with Mike Meyers after Farley passed away in the middle of the project. Mike Meyers brought his signature humor and Scottish accent to the role and made the character who he is today. Shrek undermines every expectation of the selfless knight in shining armor who sets forth to rescue the damsel in distress. When a local tyrant, Lord Farquad (played by John Lithgow), begins rounding up fairytale creatures and dumping them at Shrek’s swamp, the titular anti-hero angrily sets out only to have them removed. Conscious of being judged for what he is, Shrek turns out to be a more nuanced character and endears himself to the audience as the misunderstood underdog.

Cats and humans have a long history of living together (or in a cat’s case, tolerating humans!) that can be traced back to as early as 7500 BC. More subtle than dogs in exhibiting their love for their owners, cats are furry companions that have filled our lives with oodles of joy — even if they ignore us when we call them and turn their noses up at that expensive new food we bought for them. In fact, according to a national pet owners survey, more than 42 million households in the United States have at least one cat. Now you can add another feline to your household with this coin, the first release in a new silver bullion series dedicated to all things related to the domesticated Felidae family.

Released by the South Pacific Ocean island nation of Fiji, these coins depict an all-American housecat as it alertly surveys its backyard domain. Its eyes are wide and zeroed in on something in the distance, seemingly oblivious to the tall grasses and flowers that surround the sleek tabby. The coin’s obverse shows the Fiji Coat of Arms along with the coin’s denomination, year date and silver content.

The French Indo-China silver Piastre is one of the many successors of the Spanish “piece of Eight” large size silver coins that had circulated in many parts of Asia since the seventeenth century. Arising from a need by many nations to develop commerce and trade with the Orient, the so-called Trade Dollars became almost ‘calling cards’ for western nations as trade with the China and the Orient exploded following the First and Second Opium Wars. As other European powers began their push into Asia, France had for the most part gone unchallenged with the exception being Vietnam who themselves had hopes of achieving greater amounts of territory. By 1885, the French introduced a new currency based on the silver piastre de commerce in order to increase monetary stability The obverse of the coins depicted a distinctive seated Liberty and headdress similar to that worn by the iconic Statue of Liberty, a gift to the American people from France in 1876 on the Centenary Anniversary of US Independence. The reverse side included a simple wreath with the inscription INDO-CHINE FRANCAISE – PIASTRE DE COMMERCE – A TITRE 0,900. POIDS 27 GR. denoting the coin’s original weight and fineness.

Inscribed on the band of the crown is “IN YOUR MAJESTY RIDE OUT VICTORIOUSLY”. Behind the lion is a reflective regal floral-like pattern that accentuates the beauty of this design. At the very bottom of the obverse are the specifications of the coin of “ONE TROY OUNCE” and the exceptional purity of “.9999 FINE SILVER”.

The reverse features a very similar design to that of past Roaring Lion Silver Coins. Like past years, the 2020 Roaring Lions is backed by Niue. The Aztec calendar is the calendar system that was used by the Aztecs as well as other Pre-Columbian peoples of central Mexico. It is one of the Mesoamerican calendars, sharing the basic structure of calendars from throughout ancient Mesoamerica.

The calendar consisted of a 365-day calendar cycle called xiuhpohualli (year count) and a 260-day ritual cycle called tonalpohualli (day count). These two cycles together formed a 52-year “century,” sometimes called the “calendar round”. The xiuhpohualli is considered to be the agricultural calendar, since it is based on the sun, and the tonalpohualli is considered to be the sacred calendar.

The calendric year may have begun at some point in the distant past with the first appearance of the Pleiades (Tianquiztli) asterism in the east immediately before the dawn light. But due to the precession of the Earth’s axis, it fell out of favor to a more constant reference point such as a solstice or equinox. Early Spanish chroniclers recorded it being celebrated in proximity with the Spring equinox.

They helped people explain objects in the sky, make sense of weather events, or answer life’s big questions. Born around the fire and evolved through word of mouth, tales of these creatures and their supernatural powers were told and retold millions of times from person to person, from trade port to trade port, and from generation to generation – manifesting into a hundred different versions around the world.

The Taj Mahal is known as the Crown of the Palaces and is a white-marble mausoleum. It was constructed along the Yamuna river near the city of Agra in India. Commissioned in 1632, the building serves as the tomb of the favorite wife of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It became necessary to produce a special dollar for trading in the British Colony when the price of Silver rose rapidly in value between 1875 and 1895. The Silver price disturbed trading and resulted in a very serious shortage of minted dollars. To overcome the threat of a currency famine, The Royal Prerogative of the English sovereign gave approval in 1894 for the minting of a special British Dollar for general use in Far Eastern Trade.

The release of these Trade Dollars marked a significant change in Japan during which time the restoration of Imperial Authority was vested in Emperor Mutshuhito, who reigned from 1868 to 1914. His reign is known as the Meiji Era, which witnessed the introduction of rapid industrialization and manufacturing that transformed Japan into one of the world’s largest and most advanced economies.

This perspective-based action scene is unequaled in any recent martial arts themed bullion coin offerings of which we are aware. Every aspect of this design is spot-on regarding the power of the deep focus involved in Taekwondo. The fist-punch displayed did not originate in the passionate emotional response of the combatant depicted. One glance at his expression demonstrates the quiet spirit out of which the punch was being delivered. This is a remarkable step forward in this new series, and one we hope to see expanded on in the years to come!

The obverse is consistent with the series, presenting a beautiful and active scene, featuring a Yin Yang symbol on the left center of the design. The darkness of the Yin is accented by slightly-angled fine, horizontal lines against the frosted background. The lightness of the Yang is from the unfrosted silver. A circle-inset fills the head of the Yang with the security feature of a latent image of the medallion’s fineness of “999” hidden within the fine vertical lines. The active part of the design is produced by swirls of heavier lines that appear to feed into the Yin from the top, and the Yang from the bottom. The overall design is very clean and attractive, with a nicely-textured frosted background. Inscriptions at the lower right include “2020” in a smaller type, with “KOREA” in a larger type stacked below.

The reverse is where the real action is! A young taekwondo fighter demonstrates a perfect upward, forward punch, originating from the center of his focused energy, ready to move in and finish the contest. Inscriptions include “TAEKWONDO . 1oz FINE SILVER 999.”

Asian cultures have a love of gambling that rivals anywhere else on Earth, so what better subject for a coin from the region that luck itself? The design of this one-ounce fine silver bullion coin is a composition of many of the elements associated with the concept of luck around the world. A slot machine is the main focus, but it, and the surrounding space, is replete with such iconic imagery as horseshoes, and four-leaf clovers. We’re not going to say this was something designed primarily for artistic style – this one is about the meaning more than anything else. The obverse of this Niue Island issue is a standard one, depicting Queen Elizabeth II for its main element.

Each of the coins in the 25,000 mintage comes with a small certificate of authenticity that has a serialised number on it. Nothing strange about that, of course, but there’s something a bit special about this one. On 28 March 2020, at 10am Korean time, there will be a live YouTube event in which one serial number of that 25,000 will be drawn to win a prize.

To pay tribute to these magnificent animals, Australia’s world-renowned Peth Mint has released a silver coin that depicts a Brumby Horse confidently galloping through a nameless stream. Struck in a full ounce of 99.99% pure silver, this legal-tender coin is a gleaming tribute to an Australian icon seen by many as symbolic of the nation’s rugged can-do character.

Each 2020-dated coin available in this offer also comes in original Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, with razor-sharp designs exactly as they left the mint. Each coin also includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter that’s detectable only by viewing it through a magnifying glass.

2020 Australian Kookaburra & Baby 2oz Silver Bullion Coin

Manufacturer: Perth Mint
Dimensions: 40.6 mm
Weight (grams): 62.206
Fineness: 999

The Next Generation Series from the Perth Mint launched in 2018 with two common factors for each coin in the collection. First, the design on the reverse always focuses on a mother and its baby. This started in 2018 with the Koala mother and her young baby, and continued in 2019 with the Crocodile mother and baby. Now, the series moves on to a third design with one of the continents most famous residents.

The term piedfort comes from the Middle Ages and refers to the coinage of the era that was often known as a heavy-foot style. These coins were thicker specimens with greater weight in a smaller diameter. Modern coins of this type represent that same reality with a 2 oz weight on a 1 oz coin diameter.

On the obverse face of 2020 2 oz Australian Mother and Baby Kookaburra Silver Coins, you will find the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The sixth-generation portrait of the Queen, this design was created by Jody Clark and is unique to Australian coins in its inclusion of the Queens shoulders in the design. This is the first time her complete neckline and shoulders have featured on an Australian denomination since 1966.

The reverse side of the 2020 Australian Mother and Baby Kookaburra Silver Coins features a depiction of a small baby kookaburra nestled up close to its mother. You can tell the little baby bird is hungry and the mother is no doubt ready to lend a hand.

The gold coin is ethically produced by Australian metal with three levels of security. Both coins are minted to .9999 purity.

In 1964, as Australia prepared to switch from pounds to dollars, the artist Stuart Devlin won a competition to design the country’s first decimal coins.

One of Devlin’s early drafts featured a view of the Australian continent alongside the iconic Southern Cross constellation. More than fifty years later, this design has been retrieved from the Royal Australian Mint’s historic collection and reimagined for the current release.

Unseen in the Northern Hemisphere, the Southern Cross constellation has guided travelers and explorers, inspired poets and musicians. It has been a symbol of loyalty and rebellion and remains one of the most meaningful and recognizable features in the southern skies.

2020 Black Flag The Royal Fortune 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

Manufacturer: Perth Mint
Dimensions: 40.6 mm
Weight (grams): 31.103

Roberts was killed (10 February 1722), and his body, in all its pirate finery, thrown overboard, as he had previously requested. His crew then surrendered. Bold as pirate captains were, Roberts’s calculated daring was exceptional. In a drink-sodden and blood-stained community he was comparatively temperate and humane.

Roberts’ own prophetic words; “I have dipped my hands in muddy water and if a pirate I must be, ’tis better being a commander than a common man.”

Flipping the coin to view the text of  1656  and ‘Vergulde Draeck’ upright depicts the ship in its final state capsized shortly after wrecking in 1656. On the morning of 28 April 1656, a VOC ship called the Vergulde Draeck, travelling towards Batavia (now Jakarta) with a load of trade goods, coins, cargo, passengers and crew, struck an uncharted reef off the coast of Western Australia. The reef gutted the ship and only 75 of the crew survived, along with a small quantity of provisions and a single boat.
The under steersman, Abraham Leeman, took the boat and six crew on an astonishing and gruelling journey to Batavia and reported the wreck. Several attempts were made to rescue the survivors, but they were never located. The wreck of the Vergulde Draeck was discovered in 1963 and was excavated in 1972. Some 19,000 coins were recovered, mainly Spanish reals and some Japanese silver coins. The mystery of what became of the survivors of the Vergulde Draeck has never been answered. Legend tells of a Great Race between all of the animals to decide the order of the lunar calendar. The finish lay beyond a river, but the rat had a plan, hitching a ride on the ox before jumping off to sneak ahead and win.

Continuing the success of The Shēngxiào Collection, we are excited to reveal a new bullion coin in the series, featuring a design by artist P.J. Lynch. By virtue of winning the race, the rat is the first sign of the Chinese zodiac as it starts anew in 2020. People born under this sign are said to be intelligent, adaptable and optimistic.

Icons are representations of the Heavenly. They are expressions of Orthodox Faith, teaching, and worship. The Greek word for “Icon” is, “Αγιογραφία,” which can be separated into two words:

  • Άγιο, meaning Holy or not of this world (Heavenly)
  • Γράφω, meaning to write

Therefore, Icons are not drawings or creations of imagination. Theyare in fact writings of things not of this world. Icons can represent our Lord Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, and the Saints. They can also represent the Holy Trinity, Angels, the Heavenly hosts, and even events. Orthodox icons, unlike Western pictures, change the perspective and form of the image so that it is not naturalistic. This is done so that we can look beyond appearances of the world, and instead look to the spiritual truth of the holy person or event. Icons can only be created with the blessing of the Church, as they are writings of Truth.

Hawksbill turtles are found throughout the tropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Named for their narrow, pointed beak, they are also recognizable by a distinctive pattern of overlapping scales on their exquisitely colored and patterned shells. This species typically avoids deep waters, preferring coastlines and coral reefs where they can find sponges, a primary food source for these omnivores.

Beautiful creatures, they make incredible migrations in order to move from feeding sites to tropical beaches that often serve as nesting grounds. Hawksbill turtles come to New Zealand every year from Fiji. Although they’ve been sighted as far south as Cook Strait, they are mostly seen in the upper North Island of New Zealand in the clear, shallow waters of the island shelve.

Like many sea turtles, hawksbills are a critically endangered species due mostly to human impact. Hawksbill eggs are still eaten around the world despite the turtle’s international protected status, and they are often killed for their flesh and their stunning shells that are highly valuable in some marketplaces.

2020 Boba Fett Star Wars 1 oz Silver Bullion Coin

Manufacturer: New Zealand Mint
Dimensions:
40.0mm
Weight (grams):
31.10300
Fineness:
999

For years, fans of Star Wars™ labored under the delusion that Boba Fett had died after being inadvertently knocked into the jaws of the Sarlacc by a blinded Han Solo in 1983’s Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi. But according to none other than George Lucas himself, the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy did not die. Instead, his armor protected him from the creature’s digestive system, and he was able to escape after blasting a hole in the monster’s side.

Since then, Boba Fett has sought his revenge through novels, video games and comic books that are considered official cannon of the Star Wars Universe. And now, Boba Fett gets his due on the New Zealand Mint’s latest release in its Star Wars bullion coin series that shows an image of the infamous mercenary armed to the teeth and ready for action. It’s a dynamic, action-packed image struck in a full ounce of highly-pure 99.9% fine silver. In addition, the coin is officially licensed by Lucasfilm and Disney, so you know it lives up to the high standards Star Wars fans have come to expect.

Of course, Boba Fett’s similarity to a new Star Wars character has led to some confusion. Thanks to the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian, some folks have been mixing them up. The difference, though slight, is significant. You see, Boba Fett is actually a clone of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, who raised him as his son. Boba was taught the ways of the Mandalorians and wears the same armor, but he was not raised in Mandalorian culture and has no place that he can truly call home.
