Star Wars: Grogu “The Child” (aka Baby Yoda)
Born of the same race as Jedi Master Yoda, Grogu was raised under the tutelage of the Jedi Order before the fall of the Galactic Republic. As a very long-lived race, their young have an extremely prolonged period of adolescence. When initially introduced, Grogu is only known as “The Child” and despite appearing like a toddler he is actually 50 years old. This character melted the hearts of fans all around the world who referred to him as “Baby Yoda.” Perhaps it was this cuteness that turned the Mandalorian from bounty hunter to protector.
Grogu’s journey began at the Jedi Temple in the Galactic capital planet of Coruscant where he was trained in the ways of The Force with other younglings. During the Great Jedi Purge, he was rescued from the siege on the Jedi Temple and taken into hiding. During the reign of the new Galactic Empire, Grogu remained hidden by concealing his abilities. At some point after the fall of the Galactic Empire he was captured by a group of Nikto on Arvala-7. It is at this time that remaining Imperial forces hired assassins and bounty hunters to seek the child to kill or capture. These are the events that begin the highly popular Star Wars Mandalorian series on Disney Plus.
