The 2023 Krugerrand continues this legendary tradition in a new metal. Much like its gold sibling, the Silver Krugerrand offers investors a great way to own low-premium bullion. Whereas the 2017 Silver Krugerrand was marketed as a higher-premium collector coin, the 2023 as was the 2018, 2019 2020, & 2021 editions were priced at a slim margin over melt. Its market premium is comparable to the Silver Maple Leaf, Britannia, Kangaroo, and Philharmonic. Unlike the other sovereign coins in its class, however, the Krugerrand offers multi-generational demand and recognition. Gold investors have turned to the Krugerrand for over 50 years; now they can own this trusted coin in silver too.

The 2023 1 oz Silver Krugerrand also features its face value as part of the obverse design. The original reverse design of a leaping springbok antelope is also sharper and more defined thanks to the latest computer technology and laser etching techniques. The obverse of this prestigious 2023 silver coin features the well-known portrait of Paul Kruger by Otto Schultz.

The Great Pyramid of Giza is perhaps the most famous of the 7 Wonders of the World, and the only one to remain intact to this day. It is located just outside of modern day Cairo, and was built over 4,500 years ago.

The pyramid is the largest of the Egyptian pyramids, and was built to be the tomb of pharaoh Khufu in the early 26th century BC. It is estimated that the pyramid took around 27 years to complete and held the title of largest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. The construction technique used to build the pyramid has been a topic of debate for centuries, but it is widely believed that stone was gathered in quarries surrounding the site and transported by boat along the Nile to the site of construction. Once complete, the structure was made up of around 2.3 million blocks and contained around 5.5 million tonnes of limestone and 8,000 tonnes of granite.

The Great Pyramid of Giza has been a marvel for the human race for thousands of years, fascinating for its place in Egyptian history, construction and architectural feat, and its ability to survive through the centuries.

He built weapons of various kinds and controlled weather during battle. The numerous victories won him the mythical title of God of the ward and his legacy continues to have an immense impact for generations. Chiwoo was also the mascot of the Red Devils, the supporter group of the Korean national soccer team that advanced with the team to the semifinals during the 2002 World cup.

Chiwoo Cheonwang upon whose life these designs are based on, is the symbol of victory in Korean history and folklore. In battle, he wore a demonic mask that obscured his face and terrified his enemies. Combined with his ability to cast magic spells and control the weather, Chiwoo Cheonwang fought a series of epic battles against China’s Yellow Emperor more than 4,500 years ago. Today his mask serves as the mascot for South Korea’s national soccer team, the Red Devils.

The 12 guardians are known to protect 12 different directions during war. Each guardian represents the animals in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The series started in 2017 with Gallus, representing the Year of the Rooster who guards the West. Although the guardians are seen in their human form, their armor often depicts the animal that they represent.

The seventh release in the series is this 2023-dated medal depicting the warrior Lepus. Minted in a full ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver, it shows the battle-hardened guardian dressed in armor and regalia reflective of the tiger. The sacred weapon he holds in his left hand is a halberd, a two-handed medieval pole weapon that consists of an axe blade topped with a spike and a hook on the back that’s mounted on a long shaft. This weapon was particularly useful in snagging mounted opponents and yanking them to the ground. A forest of bamboo can be seen in the background while a bare-chested, muscle-rippling Tigris surveys what lies ahead of him from the top of a rocky escarpment.

The Silver Pandas were first minted in 1983. The first 3 years of mintage were in proof quality condition, and had a limited mintage of 10,000 pieces for each year. No Silver Pandas were struck in 1986, but they have been minted every year since then. Each year, the design of the panda changes making them highly collectible. The only year they didn’t change designs was 2002, which used the same design as 2001.

The People’s Republic of China issues and guarantees the quality of each Silver Panda coin. Silver Panda coins are minted from several mints each year. Those mints include but are not limited to Shenzhen, Shanghai and Shenyang. Unlike the U.S. Mint, these Chinese Mints do not incorporate mint marks to distinguish the difference between each mint. Instead, these mints are known for having minor differences in the design of the coin such as font size, bamboo length and designs of the temple in certain year’s mintages.

  • Obverse: Depicts the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing encircled by the phrase “People’s Republic of China”.
  • Reverse: year’s design features two young pandas in a tree with a younger bother extending a paw to his sister perhaps to help her. The coin’s creator Tong Fan has called the scene “accompanying love”.

Silver bullion bars have long been a sound choice for precious metals investors. There are primarily two advantages recognized by those investing in bullion bars. Due to lower production costs, they generally have a lower premium as compared to the same troy oz of silver and gold coins. This, of course, results in less expensive upfront investment costs. Perhaps equally important to the precious metals investment stacker is the bar’s relative ease of stacking for storage. The stacks generally take less room to store than the same weight of bullion coins.

Manufacturer: Royal Australian Mint
Dimensions: 40.6 mm
Weight (grams): 31.103

Now a symbol of modern Australia, the Sydney Opera House has more than repaid the conviction of Utzon and Australian architect Peter Hall, who transformed these dreams into the creative masterpiece that stands today. When the building finally opened its doors in October 1973, a new era of creativity and connection began.

Five decades later, the Opera House is everyone’s house. It is the nation’s premier tourist destination, one of the world’s busiest performing arts centres and a community meeting place that belongs to all Australians. To visit Bennelong Point is to encounter a story of contemporary experience that continues to renew itself each day.

Weight (grams): 31.103

Named in honour of naturalist Johann Forster, who travelled with Captain James Cook on his second voyage of discovery (1772 – 1775), the Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) is the largest of all penguins, growing to around a metre tall. Emperors are endemic to Antarctica, including the Australian Antarctic Territory. They are well adapted to the frigid southern continent and alone among penguins, are capable of breeding during the icy winter.

Once regarded as a species of least concern, Emperor Penguins are now classed as near threatened, due to reduction of their food source from commercial fishing and climate change induced loss of sea ice.

The Perth Mint is very pleased to present the 2023 version of the Kookaburra coin! First issued in 1990, the series features the imagery of the iconic bird from the Wiradjuri word “gugubarra”. (which is onomatopoeic of its call)

The Kookaburra birds are native to Australia and New Guinea. They are related to the Kingfisher and one of the four species is the famous laughing kookaburra. His call is recognizable because it sounds like human laughter! It is often used in television, movies or even in themed parks, (it was even used for Flipper the Dolphin’s laugh).

On the reverse of this beautiful 1 oz silver coin, the 34th annual Kookaburra design portrays two birds perched on branches surrounding waratah, a native floral treasure. The attention to details is magnificent and you can clearly see their beautiful plumage and although not in colour, you can imagine their whitish head with its brown eye-stripe. Here, the design incorporates the inscription ‘KOOKABURRA’, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, the 2023 year-date and the coin’s weight and purity.

The long-running Australian Lunar Coin Series, first published in 1995 and now in its third cycle, honors the animals of the Chinese zodiac with a catalog of annual designs representing mouse, wolf, tiger, rabbit, lizard, snake, horse, donkey, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The strengths of the 12 animals of the lunar calendar are said to be evident in those born during their rule. Fourth in line after the mouse, ox and tiger, the rabbit is said to bestow intelligence, creativity, vigilance and compassion on those born under its influence in 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011 and 2023.

The Perth Mint has put a limit on the 1 oz coins and will only produce up to 300,000 one oz coins. The output will stop until the mintage is entirely sold or at the conclusion of the series, whichever comes first. Because of the 1 oz size’s limited mintage, it is extremely sought-after and is likely to sell out easily. The coins are strictly struck from 99.99 percent pure silver and are issued under the Australian Currency Act 1965 as legal tender.

Tesla was truly a remarkable person that devoted his life to discovery while additionally relishing the role of showman. Tesla became well known as an inventor and would even demonstrate his achievements to celebrities and wealthy patrons at his lab. He was also noted for his showmanship at public lectures.

Born and raised in the Austrian Empire, Tesla received an advanced education in engineering and physics in the 1870s and gained practical experience in the early 1880s working in telephony and at Continental Edison in the new electric power industry. He emigrated to the United States in 1884, where he would become a naturalized citizen. He worked for the Edison Machine Works in New York City a short time before he struck out on his own.

In 1887, Tesla met two investors who agreed to back the formation of the Tesla Electric Company. He set up a laboratory in Manhattan, where he developed the alternating current induction motor, which solved a number of technical problems that had bedeviled other designs. When Tesla demonstrated his device at an engineering meeting, the Westinghouse Company made arrangements to license the technology, providing an upfront payment and royalties on each horsepower generated.

Its crown was believed to be inhabited by Svarog, the Slavic god of fire and sunlight, which was confirmed by the tree’s resistance to lightning strikes.

Consuming the young leaves of the beech tree and its fruits, one fell into a state of intoxication, which allowed one to calm down, get rid of unnecessary thoughts, which in turn was supposed to facilitate contact with the deity. In the shade of the tree’s sizable crown, people spent time talking to the god, which is why statues were erected under the beech tree, burial shrines were built, and barrows were spread.

On September 17, 1806, when The Netherlands was under the rule of King Louis Napoleon, he decided that the striking and distribution of coins should be by a single national body. This was in contrast to the Middle Ages custom of large trading cities having their own mint and coins, which resulted in several coins circulating within the country and many levels of controlling bureaucracy.
Originally it was the intention to found the mint in the capital city of Amsterdam, but since there was insufficient finance available, it was decided to locate the national mint seat in Utrecht.

2023 Maltese Cross 5 Euro 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

Manufacturer: Pressburg Mint
Dimensions:
38.6 mm
Weight (grams):
31.1
Fineness: 999

The Maltese cross has become an iconic part of the country of Malta’s heritage and culture over the course of hundreds of years. Most commonly associated with the Knights of Malta, the symbol is now used on everything from coins to the logo of different organizations and institutions internationally. It is said that the points on the cross denote the eight aspirations and obligations of the knights, “to live in truth, have faith, repent one’s sins, give proof of humility, love justice, be merciful, be sincere and wholehearted, and to endure persecution.” To this day, the Maltese cross remains the symbol of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and organizations dedicated to medical and humanitarian aid and protection.

While this coin is a modern day technologically advanced bullion coin, its origins live in our history. The Maltese cross is an internationally recognized and adored symbol, and bridges the past with the present.

The obverse: of the coin shows at its centre the Coat of Arms of the Central Bank of Malta. At centre, a shield divided in three parts; in the top part, a horizontal key as a symbol of economic progress and security; the lower parts have “heraldic hatching” indicating a white background on the left, and a red background on the right – the colours of the flag of Malta; in the left part, the George Cross, awarded to Malta for bravery in April 1942 by King George VI. Above the shield, a crest surrounded by laurel and palm branches, symbols of honour and peace respectively, supporting a mural crown on top – symbolic of Malta’s historic role as a fortress, on the sides, the shield is supported by two armoured and helmeted Knights of Malta holding large swords, representing confidence and strength, the two virtues incorporated in the Bank’s motto. These symbolise some of the greatest pages in Malta’s long military history, which, for more than two-and-a-half centuries, was ruled by the Order of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem. The plumed helmet of a knight which surmounts the shield also has a special connection to Malta as it was modelled on one found on a monument in the 16th century Co-Cathedral of St John in Valletta, built by the Knights, On a ribbon below, the motto in Latin: FIDUCIA FORTIS (“In Confidence Strength”), and the date the bank was founded, 1968, Around above, the name of the issuing authority: CENTRAL BANK OF MALTA, on the sides of the Coat of Arms, two small Maltese crosses. The Commonwealth Mint had an easy job lat year reproducing that gorgeous reverse, thankfully resisting the temptation to tinker with the original design in any way.

She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and the only woman to win a Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. Her husband, Pierre Curie, was a co-winner of her first Nobel Prize, making them the first-ever married couple to win the Nobel Prize and launching the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes. She was, in 1906, the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris.

She was born in Warsaw, in what was then the Kingdom of Poland, part of the Russian Empire. She studied at Warsaw’s clandestine Flying University and began her practical scientific training in Warsaw. In 1891, aged 24, she followed her elder sister Bronisława to study in Paris, where she earned her higher degrees and conducted her subsequent scientific work. In 1895 she married the French physicist Pierre Curie, and she shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics with him and with the physicist Henri Becquerel for their pioneering work developing the theory of “radioactivity” – a term she coined. Marie won the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her discovery of the elements polonium and radium, using techniques she invented for isolating radioactive isotopes.
