Coin Information
In Chinese mythology, the dragon is a divine creature and an auspicious symbol of power, strength, wealth, and good fortune. Throughout East Asia and beyond, koi are synonymous with harmony and happiness, and are also said to be lucky omens for marriage and fertility.
Release format available in BU and 2 Coloured BU finish in Red Dragon and Koi coloured and Green Dragon and Koi Coloured each is limited to a 5,000 mintage.
The coin portrays a dragon and koi eyeing a flame-ringed pearl, an ancient embodiment of wisdom. Also in the design is a ‘moon bridge’ – it’s high arch and reflection on the water creating the shape of the lunar body often associated with purity or perfection. Also included in the design is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the 2023 Chinese Myths and Legends Dragon and Koi 1 oz Silver Coin, you’ll find the graceful effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem. Surrounding the image are the coin’s identifying marks. These marks include ELIZABETH II, 1952-2022, AUSTRALIA, 2023, 1 DOLLAR, 1 OZ 9999 AG, and JC.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2023 Australian Chinese Myths and Legends Dragon and Koi Silver Coin showcases the captivating dragon and koi fish design, with a flaming pearl at the center. The koi fish elegantly glides near the water, while the dragon soars majestically through the air. In the background, you’ll notice a moon bridge. Inscriptions include P, and WR.
