2026 Britannia Royal Mint 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

Manufacturer: Royal Mint
Dimensions:
38.6 mm x 2.3mm
Weight (grams):
31.1
Fineness:
999

Introduced in 1997, the British Silver Britannia was issued for more than 20 years with just one monarch featuring on the obverse of the coins. With the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, the Royal Mint issued 2023 Britannias with both Her Late Majesty on the obverse and, later, with King Charles III on the obverse.

The history of the British Silver Britannia is a unique one among major bullion collections. While the gold coins debuted in 1987, the Silver Britannia didn’t debut until a decade later in 1997. From 1997 to 2010, the Royal Mint used alternating designs of Britannia on the reverse.

During that same period, three different portraits of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II featured on the obverse. The shortest-lived was Raphael Maklouf’s third-generation bust of the Queen used only in 1997. From 1998 to 2015, Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of the Queen featured and from 2016 to 2023, Jody Clark’s bust of the Queen was used.

King Charles III now features on the obverse of 2026 1 oz Silver Britannia Coins. His Majesty debuted midway through the 2023 production cycle and was created in late 2022 by Martin Jennings. This new bust of Charles III is in left-profile relief and lacks a crown.

2026 New Zealand Kiwi Specimen Finish 1oz Silver Bullion Coin

Manufacturer: New Zealand Post Office
Dimensions: 40.0mm
Weight (grams): 31.10300
Fineness: 999

The 2026 Kiwi coin was struck by the New Zealand Post from 1 ounce of 99.9% silver in uncirculated quality and features a Specimen finish. The coin was designed by Māori artist Shane Hansen and is characterized by detailed engravings. It features a brown kiwi from the North Island calling out at night, with Marama (the moon) above it. As a tribute to the ongoing recovery of the bird population, the artist was inspired by the sounds of kiwis near his home. The design also includes the inscription “TE KIWI NUI” and the denomination. The reverse features the portrait of King Charles III with the inscriptions “NEW ZEALAND”, “.999 Ag 1oz”, “CHARLES III” and “2026”.

The kiwi is a flightless bird found exclusively in New Zealand. With its long beak, which has nostrils at the tip, it searches for insects and worms in the ground – a unique feature among birds. Kiwis are nocturnal, have dense, hair-like plumage, and lay eggs that are exceptionally large in relation to their body size. Due to habitat loss and introduced predators, many kiwi species are considered endangered. The kiwi is widely regarded as a very important cultural symbol for New Zealand. The Specimen Finish Kiwi Silver Coin is limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide and is delivered in an illustrated blistercard from the New Zealand Post.
