The 2026 Australian Kookaburra 1oz Silver Coin was struck by The Perth Mint, Australia and is limited to a mintage of only 500,000 coins.

The Australian Silver Kookaburra series – to which this coin belongs – was introduced in 1990 by the Perth Mint; subsequently, the Royal Australian Mint also started issuing silver Kookaburra bullion coins. The coins have legal tender status in Australia and are one of very few legal tender bullion silver coins to change their design every year, always featuring a kookaburra – a bird native to Australia. This and their limited annual mintage may, unlike for many other bullion coins, raise their numismatic value over the value of silver used.

The mint says about the coin:
The kookaburra is known for its iconic, laughter-like call that echoes through the Australian bush at dawn, earning it the nickname ‘bushman’s clock’ for its reliable morning chorus. A member of the kingfisher family, it’s admired for its sturdy build, sharp beak, and keen hunting skills. Its presence in folklore, art, and children’s songs has made the kookaburra a cherished symbol of Australian wildlife and identity.

On the obverse of the 2026 Australian Silver Kookaburra, you will find an effigy of King Charles III. This is the first-generation portrait of His Majesty and it was created by Dan Thorne. The image shows Charles III in left-profile relief without a crown.

The reverse design depicts a kookaburra in flight over a river, framed by lush trees and rugged rocks, Around above left, the date of issue and the precious metal content: 2026 1oz 9999 SILVER (one troy ounce of 99.99% silver). Around above right, the name of the coin series: KOOKABURRA, The designer’s initials WR (for Wade Robinson) are in small letters above the water line on the right. In the left field, the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
