COIN INFORMATION

The third release from the second series of Prehistoric Life. The coin depicts the Utahraptor, a large dinosaur that lived around 125 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous period. It was one of the largest members of the dromaeosaur family, reaching lengths of up to 7 meters and weighing between 500 and 1,000 kilograms. The Utahraptor was distinguished by powerful limbs and large, curved claws on its hind toes, which could exceed 20 cm in length.

The Utahraptor was one of the largest known representatives of the Dromaeosauridae and is often compared with the smaller and better-known Velociraptor. It could grow up to seven meters long and about two meters high. A characteristic feature of this genus is the large, sickle-shaped claw on the second toes, which was probably used to hunt and hold prey. Its strong hind legs and sharp claws indicate that it was capable of both fast movements and powerful attacks. Its diet probably consisted of medium-sized to large dinosaurs. Utahraptor is a fascinating example of the diversity and adaptability of dinosaurs and offers insights into the dynamic world of prehistoric predators.
