COIN INFORMATION

The 12 guardians are known to protect 12 different directions during war. Each guardian represents the animals in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The series started in 2017 with Gallus, representing the Year of the Rooster who guards the West. Although the guardians are seen in their human form, their armor often depicts the animal that they represent.

The eighth release in the series is this 2023-dated medal depicting the warrior Draco. Minted in a full ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver, Draco is the guardian of power, nobility, authority, and yet good luck. Draco is powerful warrior with the ability to wield dragons and fight enemies of Emperor Chiwoo from the sky. Draco particularly has control over typhoons, water, rainfall and floods.

The obverse: field of all 2024 South Korean Zi:Sin Draco Silver Medals features a Doggaebi Shield. This image has been featured on the obverse of every Medal in this series, however, the design became more ferocious starting in 2020. This Doggaebi is a mythical creature, people would hang the effigy of the Doggaebi from the edge of their roof tiles to ward off evil spirits. Identifying marks of the coin are also featured around the shield.

The reverse: of 2024 1 oz Zi:Sin Draco Silver Medals features one of the 12 guardians, Draco the guardian is the highly detailed and exciting depiction of the guardian Draco riding a fierce dragon into battle while drawing back an arrow to release.
