COIN INFORMATION
The 2024 Wedge-Tailed Eagle bullion coin was struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver. The coin was first issued in 2014 and has since enjoyed great popularity among investors and collectors. It was the first collaboration of a US Mint engraver with a foreign mint.
The Wedge Tailed Eagle is native to Australia and is the continent’s largest bird of prey. The design on this coin varies from year to year to keep the coin selection varied for collectors and investors alike. in 2024 the design by American sculpture John M. Mercanti features the eagle flying above us with the sun’s rays spreading into a geometrically arranged background feature. The design includes the inscriptions ‘AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE’ and ‘10TH ANNIVERSARY’ as well as a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary. The obverse features the new King Charles III effigy.
The obverse: Shows the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the face value.
The reverse: Features a wedge-tailed eagle with its wings outstretched, majestically in flight. The reverse design depicts the view of the wedge-tailed eagle as perceived from the ground. The design also features the inscription “AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE,” “2024 1 OZ 9999 SILVER,” “10th ANNIVERSAY.” For this year only, coins feature the “P125” mint mark in celebration of The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary!
