As the 14th release in the exclusive Warrior Series this silver round features Arminius. Arminius was a Germanic chieftain who lived at the turn of the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD. He is best known for defeating the Roman army in the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. He led the Cherusci tribe and united several Germanic tribes against Rome. In his youth, he even served in the Roman army, which gave him a deep understanding of Roman military tactics. Arminius’s victory halted the Roman Empire’s expansion into Germanic territories beyond the Rhine. In German history, he is often regarded as a national hero and a symbol of the struggle for freedom.
Arminius remains one of the most significant military figures of ancient Europe. A Germanic tribal leader trained by the Romans, he ultimately united tribes against Roman expansion and orchestrated the devastating defeat of three Roman legions in 9 AD. The victory permanently altered Rome’s expansion into Germania and secured Arminius’ place as a symbol of resistance, leadership, and tactical brilliance.
The obverse: portrays Arminius in the midst of battle, raising a sword while confronting Roman forces during a dramatic woodland ambush. His fierce expression, flowing cloak, and aggressive stance capture the intensity and chaos of ancient warfare. Roman soldiers appear in defensive positions around him, while mounted warriors and forest scenery in the background reinforce the historical setting of the Teutoburg Forest. The layered engraving creates remarkable depth throughout the scene, giving the composition a sculpted and cinematic appearance.
The reverse: then features the common design that will be used throughout the series which depicts an array of historic weaponry that represents each of the warriors to come in this Legendary Warriors Series. The words “LEGENDARY WARRIORS” and “1. OZ 999 FINE SILVER” are curved around the top and bottom of the design.
