COIN INFORMATION

“Germania” is the Latin term for Germany, from which the name “Germany” is used in English language today. Due to the connection with patriotic feelings, this word was present mainly in German literature and poetry. In ancient times the area inhabited by Germans east of the Rhine and north of the Danube rivers was called Germania. At that time its first personifications on coins and reliefs appeared, depicting a brave woman – the guardian of the nation.

For years, she traversed boundless seas and impassable lands, finally discovering a magical realm full of mysteries and extraordinary charm. Standing deep within an ancient forest, by a river bend, surrounded by monumental stones adorned with runes, she embraces her destiny. In this place, Germania is crowned as the queen of these lands – the Germanic Queen. Accompanying her are two faithful emissaries of Odin – black ravens, guardians of secrets and symbols of wisdom.

Obverse

Germania is depicted in a manner reminiscent of her first image in the series, though this time her head is adorned with a royal crown, replacing the laurel of victory she wore for years. The design’s perspective once again expands with each coin in the collection – 1, 2, 10 ounces, and 1 kilogram. On the reverse, the majestic two-headed eagle, symbolizing strength and independence, continues to appear.

Reverse

The reverse of Germania 2024 is the traditional image of the Germania Mint coat of arms, with a two-headed eagle holding lightning bolts and surrounded by olive branches. The eagle is derived from Germanic mythology, associated with Janus – the god of all beginnings, guardian of gates and bridges, and patron of alliances. The eagle’s heads, facing in opposite directions, symbolize the past and the future.
