This premium bullion coin is the fourth in a series dedicated to the probably most fascinating number in mathematics – the Number Pi (π).
The number pi is a mathematical constant. Originally defined as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, it now has various equivalent definitions and appears in many formulas in all areas of mathematics and physics. It is approximately equal to 3.14159. It has been represented by the Greek letter “p” since the mid-18th century, though it is also sometimes spelled out as “pi.” It is also called Archimedes’ constant.
The obverse: Displays the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III. Inscriptions include the country of issue, face value, year of issue, and the weight and fineness of the coin.
The reverse: Features the symbol for pi being drawn; you can see the hand and part of the arm, along with the face value of 3.14 dollars. In the background in a circle around the symbol is the pattern of the digits of pi.
