COIN INFORMATION
Perth Mint introduced the Next Generation Series of silver bullion coins in 2018. Like many other collections from the Western Australia-based mint, this collection offers images of native wildlife species from the continent. The series has offered nothing short of a stunning look at the maternal bond between some of the continents most famous, and sometimes deadly, creatures, and their young.
The female emu dominates the male at breeding time before laying as many as 15 large eggs over an extended period. However, she leaves the male to incubate the eggs and guard the newly-hatched chicks. Young emus develop rapidly, maturing to fully developed adults capable of running at great speed within a year.
On the Reverse portrays an adult emu striding proudly with three chicks in an undulating landscape featuring native flora. Radial lines suggesting sunlight accompany the design, which also includes a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, and the year-date.
The obverse portrays the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
